And the best part? No referral scavenger hunt. No calling three departments to get permission to see a fourth department. No "your prior authorization is pending" purgatory. Just a doctor, a calendar, and an actual appointment ā sometimes within days, not months.
It's not that Americans don't value good healthcare. It's that the US system charges Ritz-Carlton prices for a Motel 6 experience.
That said, I'd opt for one of these that includes a screen, I don't need to install some random app just to use the thing which is a big concern for many when these plug-in versions. Plus don't need to use your phone just to use the scope. They aren't that much more $$ for a screen one.

-most Americans have no idea how to find a good doctor here, let alone in another country. And yes, the quacks will show you a bunch of a fake certs that look just as good as the legit doctors...but you can tell the difference, eh? Your Thai is just that good?
-your local insurance isn't likely to pay for an out of country procedure unless it is a true emergency. So you better have cash money or a LOT of space on your credit card. Anyone with that kinda cash (or open credit) is likely has insurance though. Unless you are a drug dealer...
-Follow ups? Most medically necessary surgeries have multiple follow ups, normally multiple week(S)out, and many months out. Good luck finding a reputable doctor over here who will take over for some rando surgeon on the other side of the planet. They are going to think you are shopping for malpractice target because whomever in Costa Rica is going to be tough to sue from State side. Even cosmetic surgeries tend to have several follow ups if you expect a good result.
-How did you find out you needed surgery in the first place? Oh wait, you went to umpteen doctors over here?
-Complications? Rx's refills?
-Have you ever had a surgery? Last thing you want to be doing is ReCoVeR On a bEaCh fOr tWo wEeKs. That is a pure fantasy unless you just got something done absurdly minor. Then is the event worth wasting weeks off recovering in a hotel, huge trip, etc just to save a few grand?
FWIW, it isn't terrible advice if you are doing an expensive (here) planned cosmetic procedure paid 100% out of pocket and you did an obscene amount of vetting / research of the doctor AND facility in question. But frankly, most people doctor shopping via Yelp out of Turkey...ain't doing that. They end up getting their tummy tuck in a shopping center next to a hookah bar. And based on your tiktok worthy level of research into the concept....I can tell you aren't going to be the one to do a good job picking that clinic. You are going to run to the first 'doctor' with a BOGO special and a coupon for the buffet next door (opposite the hookah place
P.S. I am NOT saying anything good about the US healthcare system, I am just calling out your questionable advice to run to the cheapest butcher you can find and treating your medical care as a commodity. Horrible advice.
