I did this deal yesterday at my local Best Buy in Yorba Linda, CA Best Buy. I purchased online for pickup. It was ready within an hour, i brought my grey Switch 1 with power cable, dock and straps. I completed the trade in and the only thing they required was the console w/joycons and the power cable. He let me keep the docs and straps. They said they just recycled the other parts. I also had the same issue as the other poster about the rep saying I only get $75 back, i showed the receipt, the manager came and showed me the screen that it does shows $75 trade in and $75 for trade in promo with Switch 2 purchase. He said the $150 will be refunded back to my credit card within 48 hours. Process was easy, the only quality check they did was they made sure it turned on and that iis it.
Now is the time to trade up if you were planning to get the switch 2 anyway. It still plays all the switch 1 games. Prices go up in September.
Heck no, switch 1 still has a viable exploit. They want 80 dollars for the new Fire Emblem! That's absurd, and it's just a key code. Plus you have to pay for the online service now. Sorry this is Apple level's of greed and it's too rich for my blood. Though if you've got kids (and they have to have it) I can understand.

That's only if you had the original first wave switch correct? They fixed that exploit for the later models. If that's the one you have I would definitely keep it. Totally forgot about that.

Fire Emblem is fully on cart. Whether it's worth 80$ to you is a different question. You cannot play Fire Emblem Fortune's weave on an original Switch, even if you pirate it.
Do you really own the S2 or just giving your opinion? I have both the OLED and S2, and for me the blacks and color pop out on Oled but the S2 screen is not far behind. One can say it is good but not that good compared to Oled. Compare it to the faster processor of the S2, games run smoother and load faster. However battery life is a different department where Oled is still the winner. Will wait and see how long does the OLED S2 lasts.
Anyone have experience with the trade in and functionality? My oled switch works fine except that one of the rails constantly disconnects that side joycon. Works fine when not connected or using another controller.

Honestly if you have a Switch OLED in good condition, you are better off keeping it. Why? You are only getting up to 130.00.
Take a look at what good condition NDS and N3DS systems go for nowadays. Switch is no longer being manufactured. As time goes on their value will increase. There's plenty of examples of S1 games playing worse on S2 hardware. Some have been fixed, others may not.

Could you just trade in switches and switch oled for Best Buy store credit instead of it having to have to go towards switch 2? I already have 2 of them, I rather have store credit. I have about 15 switch and 3 oled lols
That's not too bad. This deal actually has me contemplating doing the trade in lol. Sucks I cant stack switches I have a couple.
You can still trade in the switch for its regular trade in value for a BB gift card and use that towards the switch 2. Compared to gamestop trade in, BB is giving a lot more.

You can get a hardware mod from most repair shops for really cheap that gives you the functionality of the v1 exploit
