I was once told I have some early/older model Switch 1 that is sought after because it's a model # that can be hacked to be able to do something else... I don't really remember. But I was told back then that if I ever wanted to get rid of it that I should sell it instead of trading it in cuz I would get more money... Does that make any sense to anyone reading this?
the older ones can be hacked to install arbitrary OS and notably allow homebrew/pirated games. Newer ones had this patched and require a hardware mod (need to solder a chip on) to hack. Idk the market price, but it would make sense that unpatched older switches would command a premium price.

This seems like a terrible valuation on the Switch OLED. Perhaps my perspective is skewed because I just bought my bundle at under $300 last year through the Costco clearance, but I can only imagine this presents value to long-time Switch OLED owners who are genuinely desperate to access Switch 2 exclusives (e.g. - Mario Kart fans).

Good luck!

To all the people comparing OLED to Switch 2 LCD: the Switch 2 has HDR and variable refresh in a 1080p package, the OLED does not.

Is it better to trade in store or online? Also is the trade in for any special edition switches, as my son has the Zelda OLED one? I don't see it as an option. Thanks for any help.

Is the data export to the cloud (since you won't have both systems on hand) locked behind the paid online Nintendo service?

Insane that this is failing to register for people. It's completely different tech. The Xbox Rog Alley that retails for $1000 has the same setup, forgoing OLED because of how expensive the combo was. That OLED is not coming anytime soon for S2.

That's only if you had the original first wave switch correct? They fixed that exploit for the later models. If that's the one you have I would definitely keep it. Totally forgot about that.
And the jig RCM exploit works on v1 switch versions but they are plentiful, mods for the OLED and switch lite require soldering.

Honestly if you have a Switch OLED in good condition, you are better off keeping it. Why? You are only getting up to 130.00.

Take a look at what good condition NDS and N3DS systems go for nowadays. Switch is no longer being manufactured. As time goes on their value will increase. There's plenty of examples of S1 games playing worse on S2 hardware. Some have been fixed, others may not.

It doesn't have the pokemon OLED model as a choice. Would I just pick multi color or doesn't matter?

How does the screen on the Switch 2 compare to the OLED? I know it's a bit larger, but how does the image hold up?
Better color and contrast than the Switch 1 LCD. But not good compared to the Switch OLED.

There's a reason why a lot of the places with displays (all of them?) took the OLED down, and left the Switch 1 LCD and Switch 2 (also LCD) up side by side.

I keep a Switch at home, mostly for family and friends during visits.

dad Question: If I trade this for the SWITCH2, what happens to all my digital download games, do I lose them? thanks.
What the other posters said. But also; there are a handful of games that need to do a Switch to Switch transfer for the save, Animal Crossing and Pokemon games come to mind. They do NOT backup into the Nintendo save cloud if you're subscribed to that.

Also the Switch 2 has a larger internal storage but requires a new type of MicroSD, so if you need that kind of thing? Look at the Onn Walmart cards.

Good point. General rule is never sell your Nintendo gear.

I was late to get into 3DS, and paid a premium for what I bought after they stopped selling them, but what I have has still gone up in value after that. And there is no way to get similar handheld 3D without glasses experience with emulation. Hanging on to my pair of mint condition "New" 3DS XLs (U.S. model and IPS top screen) simply for the fact that I can't get that experience any other way, but going up in value is a bonus. Also got into Pokémon late, and paid premium for some legit DS carts that have also gone up in value.

If I do sell my Nintendo stuff, that money is either going into my retirement account in an index fund, or into my house -- something that ideally also goes up in value.
