This trade in deal mainly turns a Switch OLED or original Switch into a cheaper Switch 2, with the strongest appeal being the high trade value and easy in store pickup when the promo is recognized. The Switch 2 adds 1080p, HDR, VRR, faster loads, and smoother gameplay, while still playing Switch 1 games. The main knocks are the LCD screen, which can look washed out or smeary next to OLED, and the shorter battery life. Trade in rules and store handling vary, so accessories, model selection, and promo application can affect the final total.

I just did the trade in an hour ago so I can explain how my experience was at least, and I'm hoping someone can share some insight on what happened.Basically, I bought the console and trade in online with in-store pick up option. I got my email confirmation showing that the $75 trade in and $75 promotional credit has been accepted for a total of $150. I brought my console and all of the needed items to do the trade in and the best buy work confirmed everything looked good. At the end of the trade in, she mentioned that I will be getting $75 for my trade in, which should not be the case. I told her there was an additional $75 promotional credit that I received for doing the trade in online so I should be receiving $150 total. I even showed her the email receipt showing the two $75 trade in credits (also showed her through the app as well). After looking around a bit, she called her manager over, who then proceeds to tell me that they can not see online promotional offers on their end, which is why it's not showing in their system. But he said that if I did it online and I got the email, I should be getting both $75 trade in credit once everything is finalized. This is my first time doing a trade in with best buy so not sure if this is the norm? Can anyone else share their experience who just did the trade in for this promotion specifically? I'm wondering if I got scammed from best buy and just traded my switch for $75...
The best buy employees i worked with had no idea about the promo. I had to ask them to look it up to give me the additional 75. I think the employees are just not briefed very well on their deals and promos. They were great once I brought it to their attention though.

Did the trade in store and it went smooth. I ordered online for pick up and submitted with the trade in on the same transaction letting you know when picking up you must bring in your console and all other accessories that came with your switch in order to get the promo. You must pay up front the full amount then they'll refund you the credit back to your card, at least with my Best Buy store. Traded my OLED and got $130 + $75 promo. The guy didn't bother to check my console, he just signed it and said yadda yadda I inspect it and signed complete. He also did not know about the trade in offer so I explained and show him, he had another employee who came to override the system, she knew about the promo so no issues. Off I go with my brand new switch 2 within 10 mins.

Does it have to be original joy cons? My original one broke and I replaced with bulkier 3rd party ones that look very different than original. Is it worth the trip to best buy?

So does the tax get adjusted when doing online pick up? Or only when doing the deal in store? Seems when you do deal in store the 75 off coupon adjusts the tax, but when doing it online its full tax
Looks like it gets adjusted online as well - there's now a note in my order details saying the tax paid at checkout was adjusted.

We did this trade-in today. Purchased online and picked up in store.

It was a little confusing for both the employee and myself mainly because neither of us knew how to get the $75 discount. I showed them both the advertisement on their webpage and the screenshot I had taken from my e-mail. The trade-in sheet they printed out only showed $130 for the OLED with $0 Promotional Value. We later saw that it was automatically taken from the overall value of the Nintendo Switch 2. Originally priced at $499.99 the product total ended up being $374.99 (which is the $75 off). This might be dependent on the store.

The free item with purchase (Mario Case) wouldn't be available for pickup until tomorrow so I just had it shipped to my address free of charge.

Can I place an online order for in-store pickup and complete my Nintendo Switch trade-in at the store when I pick it up?
That's what I did. Got the full $130 +$75 promo online, and I brought the trade-in to the store. Took maybe 10 minutes max. They checked that it turned on and that's it.

Did OLED trade in today in store. The guy was surprised when I told him it was total of $205 off the switch 2. He looked into it and saw the other promotion and it went well after that. The $75 came off up front of the price and then he loaded the $130 on gift card and then took it off after tax. My son had $175 in gift cards he saved up so was really great deal for him. He did check out the system and took all the stuff that came with it originally. They did not have the free case in store so he just told me to contact customer service to get one. They was great. Was not able to ship me one but offered me $20 gift card by mail instead. Thanks for posting all this information. My 11 year old son is very excited.

I convinced 3 other friends to trade in our old Switch today. We arrived to the store early and we all got the extra 60$ gift card each (so another 40$ discount).

Can you order it online and have it shipped to you, then bring the trade-in to a store? Or do you have to mail the trade-in back?

Man, I'd be all over this except I'm travelling and can't get the power brick. Do you think they'd take a non-Nintendo USB-C brick?

I wouldn't have bought a switch 2 if it wasn't for this deal.
