I have two Flexzilla hoses and I like them but I don't think they are a buy-it-for-life garden hose. After a couple years they will start to acquire a layer of black mildew. That's not a big deal. Eventually, though, they will start to de-vulcanize and turn sticky kind of like rubberized tool handles get sticky after a while. I thought that maybe I'd managed to avoid this problem since my hoses are stored in covered hose reels when not in use. But this summer, the first 3 feet of my oldest Flexzilla hose has become sticky (bought around Covid or maybe the year before).

Conversely I have two flexzilla hoses pushing 6 years of use without either issue you describe, and they sit out on the dirt year round.

I do agree though, I wouldnt buy them again unless they were dirt cheap. They are just fine.

I have the same exact issue with my hose in the yard, but my flexzilla in the garage is still good.

I just need an extra hose for those days I need a little extra in my storage and this should be fine but my Sears Craftsman 100' rubber hose has been outside for almost 2 decades and still holding up well.
