I bought 2 of these types of pads for my kids, both different brands. I'm not sure if this one will have the same problem but the pad will not lay out completely flat around the edges because of the lighting strip. 2 years on each and while they still work, it is still not flat around the edges. My kids don't seem to mind, but it would bother the hell out of me.

Try to lay something heavy on the edges for a day, like books.

I tried that. No dice. The middle of the pad will lay flat. While you can get the edges sort of flat, it's not really flat. 🤷 ♂️
