Chrome Vanadium - they're not impact sockets. They're regular sockets with a black finish.

That said, these are probably fine. I use chrome sockets with my 3/8" impact all the time and have maybe ever broken one? I just wouldn't put them on a big impact.

would these be good for doing car maintenance at home? I just bought a dewalt impact wrench and need a set of decent sockets for the occasional tire rotation.

Until recently, chrome vanadium was much more common in diy'er-quality impact sockets than chrome moly. These are totally fine.

Yes, I use this exact set with a Ryobi brushless compact 3/8" impact wrench rated for 275 ft/lbs of breakaway torque and these sockets work fine for loosening all bolts on my car including lug nuts torqued to 80 ft/lbs and brake caliper bolts torqued to 102 ft/lbs. I stopped using my 1/2" impact wrench because this 3/8" one is smaller, lighter, and has enough torque to loosen just about all the bolts on my car (I haven't tried the axle nuts yet)

Thank you. Not everyone that that is using impacts is running a string of tire shops. Increased material wall thickness and modified heat treat to increase toughness go a long way toward bridging the CrV - CrMo gap, if you aren't cycling them many times a day.
