so hard to buy one of these because you donno if they will really work. i do know they have to be sealed super tight to have any chance of working, so maybe the people who say they dont work werent closing them tight but who knows

so hard to buy one of these because you donno if they will really work. i do know they have to be sealed super tight to have any chance of working, so maybe the people who say they dont work werent closing them tight but who knows

Fiberglass does not block radio waves. In fact it is so invisible to radio they use it for antenna enclosures.

That's not how they work. They don't seal it in like air. The shape and material absorb the radiation using the induction to create an electromagnetic field that deters more signal. A YouTube video would probably do a better job explaining it

Fiberglass is not the RF/EM blocking agent here, the bag is multilayered and will have a metallic mesh as well. I assume the fiberglass is to (purportedly) make it fireproof....flame retardant at best...and that might be a stretch.

Your phone keeps ringing, even if it loses signal briefly during the process (that's how the handshake process works between devices otherwise calls would constantly fail if you were driving when trying to make a call). A better test is to actually be on a call to see if the call instantly goes silent or to have your phone connected to a BT speaker and see if the music stops when the phone is dropped in. Or call the phone AFTER the receiver phone is placed in the bag. If the phone rings, the bag fails, if the call fails, the bag passes (that part of the spectrum at least).

FWIW, I don't have this exact bag but another of similar concept of the laptop size purchased via AE It passes the BT, the active call test, and cold call test (after one phone is bagged) with flying colors.

P.S. There are also Faraday Bag tester apps but never tried one, most of the reviews counts are super low so...perhaps sketchy.. They claim to test WiFi, cellular, GPS, and Bluetooth. WIFI would be easy to test by creating a hotspot on the device being dropped into the bag (if the network disappears, the bag works). GPS might be more difficult since I think most GPS apps will tolerate long gaps in signal and can't think of a 3rd party app which cares / reports if another devices loses GPS signal. Not to mention GPS's app try to fill in the blanks when losing signal so you don't even know it is searching for satellites (how your GPS assumes you are still driving the same direction and speed when inside a tunnel even if clearly the signal is gone).

laboratory grade faraday cages use copper mesh screens Also, there are photographic protection pouches that are lead lined and protect film from x-ray damage from airport scanning. I'd be interested in comparison testing results.
