This ultra slim 5000mAh MagSafe power bank stands out for its thin, lightweight design and strong magnetic attachment, making it handy for pockets, travel, and emergency top ups. It works well through some cases, holds its charge, and the USB C port is the better choice when full capacity matters. Wireless charging is repeatedly described as slow, and the unit can run warm or hot during use. Reliability concerns also appear, including units failing after a few months and reports of thicker plastic versions than the listing photos suggest.

I don't even use these for wireless charging, so the slimmer the better. I've attached magnetic rings to my handheld consoles (Steam Deck, Switch2) so I can slap these on the back, then I just run a cable to the USB port.
You are picking the wrong product in the first place, so that's not a solution: just get https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0FY66PJ8Y

I have another one similar to this from a different brand from another deal a while back, and I'm shocked how much lighter this one is. It's noticeably light. Almost made me think it was cheap feeling, but everyone seems to say it works well, so we'll see.

Apple's own original MagSafe battery when paired with an iPhone. I still use mine. Amazing and widely misunderstood device. Works fantastic when used properly (slap it on at the beginning of the day, not when your battery is already low) and it extends the battery life all day long. You then remove it late afternoon or whatever and you still have 90% battery. Never overheated. But caveat is the magic only works with iPhones.
Yeah wish they still made them, I would have bought one. Their newer ones are iPhone Air only, and will not physically fit anything other than an iPhone Air (because I was curious if I can use it on any other iphone). I learned that Apple's version will communicate with the iPhone to have it drain the magsafe battery first before the internals -- which is pretty cool but non-suprising as a first party. It's clearly optimized for iPhones and why there just isn't a good 3rd party option (that is slim for that matter) that will cool or charge optimally, possibly the inefficiencies and inability to adopt 1st party features.

The more recent reviews does say they switched to plastic as opposed to metal construction, which is unfortunate. One review said it actually might have increased the thickness and claiming false advertisement.

I use this one, love the speed. It was great in Europe.
How's your experience with the newer version? It claims faster charging, and some reviewers say the build is mix of metal and plastic. How are the thermals and does it seem meet the higher wireless charging, which I think is 15w?

Was there one anybody recommends that doesn't have overheating problems? Seems like most all of them do. Or charge extremely slow.
I shared your thoughts. I spent a bit more time than I should scouring the web and reddit forums on slim (like .34-.37' inch in width) for the best battery pack. So far only Anker nano seemed to be the best, but to say that is a stretch. Anker thermals were better from a reviewer who took a more scientific approach and pointed an infrared gun at the old (Maggo) and newer nano battery pack under heavy load (phone with little charge), and the current nano version is an improvement from a thermal standpoint. Newer nano was peak temp at about 96-97F I think, and the older Maggo was 104F peak, so definitely an improvement but to each person will be very subjective because that's still pretty hot. And for 2-3x the price (currently $49 on sale), it's hard to justify, especially when you have one here for $14 lol. I personally will wait for it to go down to $38 which was the best price from Nov 2025, and then I'll pull the trigger for it.

There was a well acclaimed iniu 5k pack which doesnt appear to be sold anymore, at least the one model that doesnt seem to be sold anymore..possibly due to a recall. I also found that a lot of other well reviewed 5k magsafe packs were no longer sold, which for some reason were discontinued and some recalled, and I think a lot has to due with thermals, people complaining battery swelling, etc. Some of them dont even make 5k batteries anymore and just went to the 10k's (thickness and better thermals), maybe so they dont have to deal with heat complaints from customers, and maybe a possible recall.

I guess you really can't beat physics when it comes to a slim form factor and a high density power lithium battery. Sorry for the lengthiness, but wanted to share some of my findings!

So despite the fact that these get hot, they're REALLY quite good for skiing or other outdoor inter sports. Basically when skiing, it's in an outside breast pocket. A lot of the time, especially if you've got a phone that's 2+ years old, the phones can shut down in the cold. Like 10° F and your music just stops or you're waiting for a text that never comes. Using these magsafe bricks will keep your phone on throughout the ski day, no matter how cold it gets. And if your fingers are in substandard gloves and get cold-- there's your hand warmer right there.

Just don't let it get wet with snow.

I think it depends on the brand. Anker charges premium pricing. Their Nano version of this is currently on sale for $49.99.
