Plastics retain smells of the storage contents and are prone to dying much more easily than glass.

Though Rubbermaid does tend to use more premium materials in their Brilliance line, the glass version of these are the absolute go-to for longevity and remain pristine for years with proper maintenance.

I have over a dozen glass that are in fantastic shape with four+ years of use and absolutely zero retention of contents that were refrigerated for days at a time (pasta sauces, soups, stews, etc)

The 2x 8-cup glass version [amazon.com] has dipped down to the low $20s recently so it may be worth keeping an eye on those since they are the superior deal here.

Never heard of tritan, huh? It's what they use in EVERY restaurant you've ever heard of.

I have.
I mentioned that Rubbermaid uses premium materials (implying your mention)

but it's far inferior to their glass variant in all but lightness and thinness. Glass doesn't scratch or become brittle like these do.

I haven't heard of any restaurants. I am a hermit and live in a cave

You can get gobs of heavy pyrex glass containers at your local estate or garage sale for $20.
Not everyone wants glass containers.

Oh, your comment implied that you hadn't, since it doesn't have the negative traits you initially mentioned. Might be time to ditch the interwebs and go blow glass.

I'll never buy these again. They are much thinner and crack regularly, simply with storage use, unlike first generation products.
