I've about had it with the EGO batteries. The price points are just too far off compared to the off-brand ones on Amazon. You can buy double the size for half the cost. I've been using non-OEM batteries on all my EGO tools for a few years now and all them are still doing absolutely fine. My original EGO batteries are dead - it's not like they are anything special (maybe slightly better), but after the 3rd year they all start to degrade.
EGO should develop a recycling program that incentivizes owners to get a discount on EGO-brand batteries by trading in dead ones.

Twice the capacity, and $40 cheaper. It's a no brainer, sorry EGO. Love your tools - your battery prices suck.
Some of the off-brands may be alright, but the one I have definitely isn't. It is either a 3500mAH or 4000mAH (I don't remember exactly) but performs much worse than my Ego 2500mAH. The run time is less and I can feel my trimmer bog down easier. It is also even lighter than my 2500mAH, but the case is almost as big as my 5000mAH. Don't just blindly buy off-brands and expect them to be good. Check reviews thoroughly and make sure they aren't just botted.
Worst deal ever you can pickup blower and battery kit for this price
Not at $115 you aren't. Maybe $150 at the absolute right time/sale, yes, which is why I happen to have a 650 blower and also a 615. I bought the Nexus power station that holds 4 batteries and trying to find the absolute best sales to get at least (4) 2.5 amp batteries. I found the 615 and a 2.5 battery on sale for right around that $149 price. I also happen to catch, on absolute total luck clearance on the 2.5 battery and charger and string trimmer for $69!!! But this was a total clearance sale that once they were gone, they were gone. I went to 4 lowes in my area and found 3-4 of them. One I got for my brother and the others I kept for my Nexus, with intentions to sell the string trimmers and chargers for $50-75. This was over 2 years ago and I still haven't taken time to list them for sale. lol. Anyway, it isn't very easy to find the blower and battery for $115 unless you are super lucky. (My dad did just get the sale that had 615 blower and a 2.5 battery and charger and then included another 2.5 battery (he is out of state otherwise I would have just given/sold him mine, but getting these batteries out of states and paying for shipping is sort of a PITA).

I just got the 4.0 Waitley version on sale for $67 last week. I don't think it is a true 4.0 but it might be, it's much heavier than my 2.5 batteries and not that far off my 5.0 ego. I've used Waitley in my dewalt and Milwaukee tools, it's the only non-OE battery that I trust. This is it, looks like it's on sale now for $63!!https://a.co/d/06HN5c1q

I've had good luck testing my Waitley 4.0 version. I've used several of their batteries on dewalt and Milwaukee tools. If I need the absolutely most performance out of my DeWalt tools, I'll use my FlexVolt batteries or the 5.0 power stacks that I have. BUT if I am using my DeWalt fan, Bluetooth radio, vacuum, small blower, and those types of tools where the most power/speed isn't needed, I'll use the Waitley to free up my other batteries for the big stuff.
