sub-$250 deals happen for entry-level non-Plus models or non-touch plastic clamshells on clearance. A brand-new 2-in-1 convertible with an Intel Core 3/i3 and 8GB RAM hasn't dropped that low.

EDIT: Not to mention, you're not finding a brand-new Chromebook with a backlit keyboard anywhere near that $250 price point either.

It depends on what you're doing. In this case, since it's a Chromebook, 8gb is fine for what it does. But that doesn't mean it's a good deal. Last year, a similar device could be had for around $250 or less.

This is a decent deal. Chromebook plus is always expensive.
My first Chromebook plus was more than $400 retail in 2023. I had to apply all my coupons and Target cash to pay only $230 at Target.
Since then I only buy refurbished Chromebook plus at eBay or woot for around $200.
Chromebook plus usually is priced higher than Windows laptop for the similar spec. That is why I only buy refurbished after the first Chromebook plus.
Chromebook plus usually has 8G Ram. Very few of them have 16G.
Right now, I am watching a refurbished Chromebook plus in eBay for $330. I am waiting for Labor Day offer to see if the price can drop to $300.

I haven't priced them in awhile but at this price point Chromebook is a very nice machine. If you need windows or macOS yes this obviously isn't the machine for you, but for premium web services this is great. Only thing I'd want is fingerprint reader. Other than that, no notes.

This is an n355 CPU - Twin Lake/Gracemont cores. It's not a Panther Lake chip, just a low end one. Probably good enough for a Chromebook, but not a powerhouse.
