I'm sure it's a great projector, but I feel like ultra short throws should have warnings about what a pain the ass they are to install. I had a short throw previously and then got this exact projector and returned it due to how finicky it is with placement. More power to you if you want to deal with that headache. I bought a standard throw projector and I'm very happy with the ease of install.

Regardless this is a good price for this particular projector. Just wanted to give others a heads up.

I'm worried I might be walking into the same trap - can you describe what made so particularly difficult? When I had a throw projector years ago it was annoying either having cables across the floor if it was between the couch and wall, or I had to install a sturdy shelf, have wires come down the wall, and consoles/media devices in a third location (projector one wall, screen the other, devices somewhere else).

The placement is extraordinarily difficult to get right. It has to be the exact right height and distance etc and often requires custom furniture to make it work. Please do a ton of measuring and research beforehand because it's a real pain. I feel like short throws and standard throws are great but all you can do is an ultra short throws you might want to look into a large 100 inch TV. I have both a 98 inch TCL QM8K in the living room and the projector in the basement and there's pros and cons to both.

Don't listen to em. i got a floor rising projector screen and UST work just fine. it replaces our tv that i dont even use anymore. tv is wall mounted behind the alr floor rising screen. At first i thought i was going to be using this dual setup more frequently, but UST is so bright that it looks great on that ALR screen even with daylight so now its mostly all I use.

It's really not a pain at all.

Will Hisense honor warranties on these? The 90 day woot warranty is scary. The refurb px3-pros that were cheaper last week at least had 2 year Allstate warranties.

Woot is an authorize seller so i dont see why not. Woot 90 day warranty is superseded by manufacture warranty.

I don't see them listed as an authorized seller:
https://www.hisense-usa.com/authorized-retailers

Can you point me to somewhere that shows they're covered? Plenty of brands will not support woot as an authorized reseller even though Amazon is covered.

Plenty of brands (Sony [reddit.com], Hoover [reddit.com], Segway [reddit.com], etc.) do not honor warranties on woot products like they would if you bought from Amazon. If woot felt they were an authorized retailer, they'd list the manufacturers warranty on the listing like they do with Samsung products: https://electronics.woot.com/offe...-series-tv

I have this unit and bought it closer to full price. Can say that I'm very happy with it. It has its shortcomings that are well-documented on YouTube etc. but it's still a wonderful experience watching movies on this thing. It is definitely a bit harder to setup than your typical projector, but once you dial it in, who cares? Mine gets bumped out of alignment from time to time and I can usually get it back into place in less than few minutes. It even comes with little plastic brackets you can stick down by its feet to make repositioning it easier.

I have the nexigo mkii and love it. I've had two just and have had projectors for 15 years. Love the light reflection to the screen vs from the screen.

Ya placement is everything when it comes to any home theater equipment. You never took any equipment to calibrate the exact inch something needs to be? Speakers, couch, lights, subwoofers.

Not sure I understand the complaints on difficulty with screen placement.

Put the projector where you want it to be, turn it on, and bring up the projectors grid alignment screen on your blank wall. Scale it out to the size that matches your screen. Identify the top and bottom of image, use diagonals to confirm all 4 corners are square and throw some painter's tape up where you want your image projection.

Now that you have your corners, mount your screen. Done.

I have a Viewsonic UST (x1000-4k) and it was super simple and much less difficult than mounting a TV. From there you can use the keystone and other adjustments for fine tuning.

It just really is not that difficult.

You will want an ALR screen designed for UST or it will looked washed out. We initially went with a cheap 130" Akai and it was ok since we have a completely light controlled room but the right fixed frame ALR UST screen was 10x better. No bouncing light on the ceiling, color contrast improved tenfold, etc.
