Hold steady boys! Last year during black friday walmart had TCL 85" 4K for $499 shipped WITH FREE WALL INSTALLATION SERVICE! It flew under the radar but was the cheapest/best value for those who cared mostly about size.

After that the price popped in and out but no more free wall installation.

85" in the low 400s or high 300s is the plan!!

This Pioneer Roku TV looks like a very cheap budget set best suited for a guest room, extra bedroom, garage, or other low-use space. The 43 inch model has a 200 by 300 VESA pattern, and the Xumo version has run flawlessly for almost a year while supporting Chroma 4, 4, 4 for computer use. A 50 inch unit has also handled heat and cold in a backyard storage setup without issues. The main caution is uneven reliability, with one 50 inch failing after five hours and Roku adding more full-screen ads.

Common Questions (5)

It fits low-use spaces like a guest room, extra bedroom, or garage, especially when price matters more than premium build. The 43-inch model has also been described as acceptable as a disposable set for a room used only a couple times a year.

Some units have lasted well, including a 43-inch set that was still working flawlessly months later and a 50-inch set that handled heat and cold in a garage/storage setup. A separate 50-inch unit failed after only 5 hours, so durability can vary by unit.
DealGuy01 stupidusername
The 43-inch model uses a 200x300 VESA pattern, which is taller than many common 100-200mm mounts. That can prevent it from fitting mounts sized for smaller TVs.
timkingman
The 70-inch model was specifically bought with concern about reported audio problems when switching to headphone mode. That suggests the issue may exist on some units, so it is worth checking if headphone output matters to you.
Poidawg
Roku's home screen can show full-screen video ads when opening the Channel home page, adding clutter to navigation. If you dislike ads in the interface, that is a practical downside to consider.

Pioneer in name only. TCL panels, TVs assembled by Compal. Low tier stuff, but hey they are pretty cheap! Perfect for your guest bathroom.

Out of two the 43" performing flawlessly months later, 50" quit after only 5 hours.

I ordered a 50" Hisense w/ Google TV on it from the Walmart deal at $158. Does anyone have any experience with that versus the Pioneer 55" here for $180? Is it worth the extra $20?

I dont know what model it was, but I purchased a 50" Pioneer last spring. So its spent a couple years in my back yard storage box and its been hot as hell this summer. No issues. I keep it in the garage during the winter and no problems with cold either.

Picked up the 70" will see if there might be some audio issues (switching to headphone mode) like the reviews mention. Had a Pioneer plasma TV before that was a solid TV but also a room heater.

Bestbuy also has a TCL 55" that is probably comparable to either of those.

Once a clean uncluttered quiet likeable home page.
