Device cost if porting a phone number: $9.99
3 months of service after factoring the $25 "new customer" pop-up coupon OP mentioned: $165
9 months of service @ $30: $270
9.99 + 165 + 270 = $444.99 + tax on device cost
Also, Capital One Offers has a $7 back clickthrough offer.

This Cricket iPhone 16e bundle is mainly attractive as a low upfront way to get an iPhone with a fresh battery, especially if you plan to trade it into Apple. The phone has repeatedly been accepted by Apple Store trade in for a $310 gift card, and the included three months of service are prepaid. The big catch is Cricket's unlock rule, which requires 365 days of paid service, so the line stays locked for a year. Porting and checkout can also be finicky, and the real total rises once service and add ons are included.
Apple Store trade-in can accept carrier-locked iPhone 16e units for an Apple gift card.
Apple trade-in value for the 16e has been reported as $310, which can offset the device cost toward other Apple purchases.
Unlocking can be planned around a full year of continuous active paid service, which supports long-term use before switching carriers.
The deal can work smoothly when porting and activation are handled through the transfer tab and eSIM management.
Cricket unlock eligibility requires at least 365 days of paid service, which delays switching to other compatible networks.
Apple trade-in value for the 16e can drop after the included service period, including a reported $40 decrease.
Porting and activation can take several days, and port status may show failed before changing to pending or delay.
In-store execution can add extra charges like insurance, which can raise the effective out-of-pocket cost versus the online math.

Chase Ink Cash did give 5% c/b on it ($9.xx)
Got targeted offer by email from an online cash back portal (will see if that comes in a few months)
Activated service yesterday and kept eSIM on there overnight -- earlier today did an eSIM transfer to an existing iPhone to free up the Cricket iPhone 16e
Left the phone on iOS 26.5 and did a factory reset -- took the phone to Apple Store in the afternoon and traded it in for a $310 GC without issue

Compare the cost to this deal specifically, the 16e; was it $29 or $79?
$165-79-25=$61.00 Savings over the posted deal but 1mo service instead of 3
It'd be worth going to a store for $111 savings on the posted deal
