The device is designed for use on and is locked to Cricket's network.
The device has not been reported lost or stolen.
The device is not associated with a fraudulent account.

One year of "paid" service makes it so hard. I remember the days when you could pay for like one month of service and throw in a drawer and wait for 11 months.

Just checked apple's website and trade-in value is $310...can someone confirm that Apple will accept locked phones?

Let's do the math; the device and 365 days of service will cost:

Device cost if porting a phone number: $9.99

3 months of service after factoring the $25 "new customer" pop-up coupon OP mentioned: $165

9 months of service @ $30: $270

9.99 + 165 + 270 = $444.99 + tax on device cost

Yea, good catch. Devices used to just be locked for a year regardless of active service. That's so crazy that it's now 12 months of service. I saw on reddit that someone said they were able to trade it in successfully to Apple for the $310. But I haven't personally verified that.

I did same deal recently but I traded the 16e to Apple for a 17e they take the unlocked phone. they give you $310 for the 16e.

I will stay with them for 3 months since you have to prepay that upon signing up. I will then revisit after 3 months if I want to switch.

Well I got $310 for the 16e so I'm fine but for future yes this will eventually go down. In chatting with apple they said the $310 trade in is likely to continue through August at least.

For me, I had to move my cursor to the top right of the browser like I was going to close it out, then the coupon popped up.
