Clarks Bushacre 2 chukka boots are valued for their classic look and leather build, with a roomy toe box on some pairs and a fit that often runs half a size small. They can work well for office wear, casual fall and winter outings, and everyday errands, and a thin insole or break in period can improve comfort. The main drawback is comfort, since the sole and heel are often described as very hard and blister prone. Durability also comes up, with reports of glued soles separating and limited tread in icy conditions.

  • Office workers wanting a sharp casual boot, because it looks good and stays comfortable for everyday wear after break-in.

  • Buyers with wider toes who need a roomy fit, because the toe box is unusually spacious and the wide version can make the same size wearable.

  • People who can tolerate a break-in period, because the boots become very comfortable after initial stiffness.

  • Shoppers adding their own insoles, because extra cushioning can make the boots much more comfortable.

  • People who need all-day walking comfort, because the sole feels rock hard and can leave feet sore or blistered.

  • People needing durable sole construction, because the glued sole can separate from the upper and come apart.

  • Workers standing all day or doing long hikes, because these boots lack cushioning and support for extended time on your feet.

  • Buyers with narrow feet or thick socks, because the fit can run narrow and become painful without a wide size.

A deal alert brought me to this post. I've bought 4 pairs of Bushacre 2s over close to 10 years. I bought a size 14 Beeswax from Amazon for $35.27 on July 27th when I saw a coupon on the product page. So, this can go lower. But, as other people mentioned, price varies for size. Also, can confirm that the newer purchase is much less comfortable than previous ones. I bought some cheap insoles and that helped. I remember previous pairs having a break in period before they felt extremely comfortable - probably 3 months? But these new ones are notably uncomfortable. With all that said, if your size is on sale, it's a very good price for actual leather boots that should feel good after a break in. I'd also recommend using Scotchguard as soon as you get them.
Can you elaborate on Scotch guard? I thought it's implied that these things are coated in beeswax and wouldn't it be better to continue to coat them in beeswax

I don't think the beeswax for this shoe is an actual protective coating - I think it's just the color. I'm at the point where I Scotchguard just about any shoes that I buy. For Bushacre 2's, I've noticed that they tend to let water in where the soles are glued to the upper. I suspect that the soles detaching on this boot (which I've also experienced) might be worsened by the water intrusion.

I usually use this for waterproofing:

I like it because it protects shoes/boots pretty well and I haven't seen it discolor anything I've applied it to.

It's true. I bought these from a deal in 2025. They are very uncomfortable and after wearing them once or twice, I probably won't again.

Really like the looks of this pair of shoes, but the many comments of these shoes being uncomfortable is a major downer

Boots just delivered and I love them. They absolutely feel like you're stepping into dress cowboy boots or dress shoes rather than a cushioned sneaker. I have problems with my feet so I'll add a thin insole and I think they'll be fantastic.

I find these to be very comfortable especially with the wider than usual toe box that doesn't constrict your toes. In fact I'm surprised they even offer a Wide version because the normal version is already roomy.

But these are definitely not meant for people who are on their feet all day, or for hiking, or doing anything athletic. These are nice looking shoes that you can wear to an office job and the grocery store and basic everyday things like that. If you have a job where you're standing all day, or if you walk multiple miles on a daily basis, then you should definitely wear sneakers or some other shoe with more padding and support. These shoes are definitely not for everyone and for all purposes, but they're completely fine for everyday use for the typical person who doesn't do a whole lot of walking each day.

And as the previous commenter mentioned, you can easily add an insole to make it more comfortable.

This is definitely the case, it's only the color. I own a pair in Beeswax and in Dark Brown, they're virtually identical and the color is barely distinguishable as well. Good idea about waterproofing them if you think you'll need it.
