Clarks Bushacre 2 chukka boots are valued for their classic look and leather build, with a roomy toe box on some pairs and a fit that often runs half a size small. They can work well for office wear, casual fall and winter outings, and everyday errands, and a thin insole or break in period can improve comfort. The main drawback is comfort, since the sole and heel are often described as very hard and blister prone. Durability also comes up, with reports of glued soles separating and limited tread in icy conditions.

Common Questions (5)

  • They can be comfortable after a break-in, but they are not a good choice for long walks, all-day standing, hiking, or athletic use. Several comments describe the sole as very hard and the boots as uncomfortable at first, while others say they work fine for office wear, errands, or casual outings once broken in.

  • Yes, but the fit can get tight because the toe box has limited vertical space. Thin insoles are more realistic than thick ones, and adding an insole is a common way to improve comfort if the boots otherwise fit.

  • Yes, a half size down is commonly recommended. One fit report says a usual 10.5 in Vans fits well in a size 10 Bushacre 2, and another notes the boots run narrow enough that the same size may feel tight unless you choose the wide version.

  • The soles are glued rather than stitched, and multiple reports say they can separate from the upper over time. Water intrusion at the glue line may worsen the issue, so waterproofing is often suggested.

  • The difference is mainly color, and the two versions are described as virtually identical in construction. The Beeswax finish is also treated more like a color than a protective waterproof coating, so extra waterproofing may still be useful.

Super uncomfortable until broken in, very comfortable after. Very strong and well made shoes.

I came in just to warn people away from the. To be fair, the upper was good after breaking in. The heel, though, was SO bad it gave me blisters. I tried insole, thick socks, even leather cap insert at the heel. Don't buy it.

These fell apart on me where the soles completely came apart from the upper portion. Crappy glue is being used and no stitching whatsoever. Happened in the middle of a wedding...

A deal alert brought me to this post. I've bought 4 pairs of Bushacre 2s over close to 10 years. I bought a size 14 Beeswax from Amazon for $35.27 on July 27th when I saw a coupon on the product page. So, this can go lower. But, as other people mentioned, price varies for size. Also, can confirm that the newer purchase is much less comfortable than previous ones. I bought some cheap insoles and that helped. I remember previous pairs having a break in period before they felt extremely comfortable - probably 3 months? But these new ones are notably uncomfortable. With all that said, if your size is on sale, it's a very good price for actual leather boots that should feel good after a break in. I'd also recommend using Scotchguard as soon as you get them.
When Clark's was acquired the quality dropped noticeably

4.3 average reviews when thirty years ago if there were such reviews, they would have been 4.7 or higher. I have several Clark's shoes and the brand like so many others has gone downhill.

they look fantastic. debating on whether getting my feet caned in Singapore or wearing these for more than an hour is more uncomfortable. I own multiple pairs so I have an obligation to warn others. S tier feet beaters

Bushacres 2 suuuuuuuuuck. They don't break in easy and they are not comfortable. I say this as someone who owns a bunch of Clarks boots and shoes. They're the worst pair of chukkas I've had the displeasure of owning. Really well made, but beyond uncomfortable.

would a half size bigger and sole inserts with thick socks help with the break-in? these look too good to pass for the loot. i wear a 13 medium. i can save $13 with the wide size.

I bought this in march 2019 for $38 after tax. First time I opened it today lol and I will say it's well packaged . I'm size 9 in most shoes and have had to go up to 9.5 in Nike and adidas due to narrow fit. I bought size 8 in these and the length is almost perfect with some toe wiggle room. But it is narrow and painful and only wearable without socks or thin socks. So I think wide version in same size should make it wearable
Also bought this 3/2019 and have been wearing since almost daily when not needing sneakers. I forget how long the break in period took but it was only recently that the sole was coming off where my toes would bend. Likely because I'm wearing them to bike too.
