Also, can confirm that the newer purchase is much less comfortable than previous ones. I bought some cheap insoles and that helped. I remember previous pairs having a break in period before they felt extremely comfortable - probably 3 months? But these new ones are notably uncomfortable.
With all that said, if your size is on sale, it's a very good price for actual leather boots that should feel good after a break in. I'd also recommend using Scotchguard as soon as you get them.

Clarks Bushacre 2 chukka boots are valued for their classic look and leather build, with a roomy toe box on some pairs and a fit that often runs half a size small. They can work well for office wear, casual fall and winter outings, and everyday errands, and a thin insole or break in period can improve comfort. The main drawback is comfort, since the sole and heel are often described as very hard and blister prone. Durability also comes up, with reports of glued soles separating and limited tread in icy conditions.
Common Questions (5)
They can be comfortable after a break-in, but they are not a good choice for long walks, all-day standing, hiking, or athletic use. Several comments describe the sole as very hard and the boots as uncomfortable at first, while others say they work fine for office wear, errands, or casual outings once broken in.
Yes, but the fit can get tight because the toe box has limited vertical space. Thin insoles are more realistic than thick ones, and adding an insole is a common way to improve comfort if the boots otherwise fit.
Yes, a half size down is commonly recommended. One fit report says a usual 10.5 in Vans fits well in a size 10 Bushacre 2, and another notes the boots run narrow enough that the same size may feel tight unless you choose the wide version.
The soles are glued rather than stitched, and multiple reports say they can separate from the upper over time. Water intrusion at the glue line may worsen the issue, so waterproofing is often suggested.
The difference is mainly color, and the two versions are described as virtually identical in construction. The Beeswax finish is also treated more like a color than a protective waterproof coating, so extra waterproofing may still be useful.

I don't think the beeswax for this shoe is an actual protective coating - I think it's just the color. I'm at the point where I Scotchguard just about any shoes that I buy. For Bushacre 2's, I've noticed that they tend to let water in where the soles are glued to the upper. I suspect that the soles detaching on this boot (which I've also experienced) might be worsened by the water intrusion.
I usually use this for waterproofing:

I like it because it protects shoes/boots pretty well and I haven't seen it discolor anything I've applied it to.
But these are definitely not meant for people who are on their feet all day, or for hiking, or doing anything athletic. These are nice looking shoes that you can wear to an office job and the grocery store and basic everyday things like that. If you have a job where you're standing all day, or if you walk multiple miles on a daily basis, then you should definitely wear sneakers or some other shoe with more padding and support. These shoes are definitely not for everyone and for all purposes, but they're completely fine for everyday use for the typical person who doesn't do a whole lot of walking each day.
And as the previous commenter mentioned, you can easily add an insole to make it more comfortable.
