The reviewer "Z" or whatever his name is , a well known audiophile reviewer who has reviewed countless bookshelf speakers.....mentioned in a review of the of the next model up, the Bro4, that he did not like the Bro3s. He liked the Bro2s, a lower model, better than these and also liked the 4s better too. In my 30 plus years of buying lots of speakers myself I noticed really good quality speakers are never reduced to this level, except 2nd hand.

The BR03's have been reviewed endlessly since 2020 with lots of praise and also some criticism. I've always been on the fence and these have been in my cart numerous times and once again my finger is hovering over the place order button.
At $299 I always backed away. At $269 I may just give them a try.

I'd take these over the Q1 Metas in a heartbeat. Not even close. The KEF equivalent is actually the Q3 not the Q1...you're comparing an inline 4 (Q1) vs a V6.

You're referring to Zeos, a YouTuber I'd take with many grains of salt...as with any YTuber. Better source of subjective reviews here: https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/...borea-br03

If you prefer measurements:

Beyond a fairly low threshhold ($200/pr for bookshelves, perhaps?) the price of a speaker often has little to do with its actual performance or whether YOUR ears will like the speaker or not, and more about MARKET conditions---when models are being clearanced, in particular, you can often get great deals on them.

These are too big to be categorized as bookshelf speakers. They need a stand and some distance away from the wall to sound good.

Wrong on both counts.
  1. They only have 6.5" woofers. That's actually STANDARD sized. 5.25" is on the smaller size. 4-4.5" is SATELLITE speaker class.
  2. They have FRONT firing ports. That means you can place thme CLOSER to a wall than most rear ported speakers. Only SEALED speakers have less boundary interference.

Just because they have front firing ports doesn't mean you can place them close to wall. They need at least 2-3ft away to sound correct.

I've had front ported, rear ported, and sealed cabinet speakers. The rear-ported need the most distance from a back wall by far, followed by the rear, and the sealed were least affected compared to the other 2.

Let's just say that the triangle's have better bass overall than the Q1. My goal is to get a better soundstage so that friends and family can sit around me without any change in sound quality even if they're not exactly in the sweet spot. My concern is that the mids and highs won't be as nice as the Q1's with their advertised Uni-Q drivers. They sound a little bit better in this regard than my Kali LP6's. BUT only time will tell and I will trust my ears. I will experiment with various degrees of toe in.

If your friends and family are fussy-eared audiophiles they probably would notice subtle variations in sound at different locations in the room. If they are normal human beings who (gasp!) WATCH movies/TV instead of LISTEN to them, it's highly unlikely they would, and they would also be more likely to prefer the sharper highs and punchier bass of the bigger BR03. Normal people are easily wowed by anything that's better than TV speakers and cheap soundbars, which both the KEF and Triangle speakers certainly are.

Thanks for listing the woofer size. I didn't see that anywhere. Pretty pathetic not to mention something quite important. Kind of like trying to watch MLB now and searching for their miserable batting averages.
