The Ninja CREAMi XL Deluxe stands out as a strong pick for protein and specialty frozen treats, especially low carb or keto style ice cream. It can make multiple servings per container, and the XL format is praised for turning high protein milk, monk fruit, allulose, whey, or yogurt based mixes into customizable desserts. Cleaning is manageable when the machine is rinsed right away and dried vertically, though the blade area is still awkward and the unit is very loud. Refurb units also draw caution because of short warranty coverage and reports of early failures, so the warranty matters.
Common Questions (5)
It needs immediate cleaning after use: rinse right away, soak or spray out the residue, and air-dry vertically. The blade/top area is the hardest part to clean, and if ice cream dries inside, buildup and mold can become a problem.
Yes, it is especially useful for protein, keto, and low-carb ice cream because it can make customized pints with ingredients like whey protein, cottage cheese, yogurt, allulose, and monk fruit. It is less compelling if you only want regular ice cream.
Yes. The refurb listing is described as having a 90-day warranty, which is shorter than some other refurb offers. That makes the return/warranty window a key part of the value decision.
Yes, it is extremely loud while running, but the noise only lasts about 2 minutes per spin cycle. That makes it more of a short burst of noise than a long-running appliance.
Yes. The mix needs to settle and freeze completely flat, or the blade can wobble, break, strip threads, or even fly off and damage the shaft.

Very important with these, make sure the ice cream has time to settle before putting it in the freezer, it must be completely flat while frozen or else your blade will eventually break
If you spray the machine well after each use before ice cream can dry out/solidify it seems not to be a problem, but lord help you if you don't.

This got me thinking. I think I'll make some to freeze tonight.
