According to multiple sites the GL224 movement is "functionally equivalent " to ETA2824-2.

Knowing Glycine is owned by Invicta, I wonder which functionally equivalent chinese-made movement is used here? Seagull or no-brand? Here are 2 known clones:

These come with the Sellita SW200/SW200-1 movement. Non-swatch owned brands switched over to Sellita movements after the Swatch group (owns ETA) had stopped supplying unfinished movements to competitor brands. Rather than updating the caliber name when Glycine switched suppliers, they use GL224 to refer to either an ETA 2824-2 or a Sellita SW200-1, depending on the production year... aka a clever marketing trick that saves them having to update everything and doubles to confuse the customer... shiesty? yes, but almost every company does the same thing.

Your statement is basically the same as saying Hamilton watches are basically just Swatches since the Swatch Group owns them.

You can open the case back and check for yourself, or if you have one of their models with a see through back you can easily see they aren't Chinese movements.

I just bought a bronze Gmt and it's a real Selita movement. From what I've heard Invicta hasn't even touched Glycine, they were able to make the brand profitable just by using their buying power to reduce the cost of Selita movements. Invicta is happy to let them sell entry level Swiss watches and simply take profit.
