One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

The Gallant Hours - A semi-documentary dramatization of five weeks in the life of Vice Admiral William F. "Bull" Halsey, Jr. (played by James Cagney) during the battle for Guadalcanal. The style of the film is very unusual but over all it was very interesting and well done. 4/5

My closet has a small stash of extra used dvd drives for my PC. The laser will last about a year on most before I have to fork over another $5 or $6 and run down to the recycle place again.

I Am - This was supposed to be a great movie about what's wrong with the world but it's really awful. Super unfocused, the interviews ramble on with no cohesion unlike normal documentaries. Also, the concept that money can't buy happiness is hardly groundbreaking.

Was browsing through new additions to Netflix online offerings today and stumbled on this one. The fact that this movie even exists makes me question what little faith in humanity I still have. And no, I didn't watch it.

I have an Asus Blu-ray drive in my laptop that won't read certain BDs. I only have a handful of blu-rays, but Louie Season 1 is one of the discs that can't be read.

edit: I also forgot to mention that I rented Godfather on blu-ray and I was unable to watch it. Luckily, I have a Sony drive in my HTPC that'll read them.

Watched it for the second time and really like this movie. Didn't really know much about it 1st time so I think it that made it better for me. It's mysterious, funny, creepy, and scary.

Elite Squad: Enemy Within

No rating yet because I fell asleep but seemed like a really good movie from the parts I was awake for. Will have to watch it again.
