A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Interesting. Will Instapaper it for perusal later on.

But from glancing it seems he puts up a more than half a decent theory as to why the Engineer was completely hostile to the humans upon awakening. Although having such insight in mere moments after being brought out from deep sleep is a bit of stretch, though not as much as some of the other things the movie expects its viewers to make.

The Grey - Had I known that they used actual wolf carcasses for the movie I would've boycotted it. It does seem to overly vilify wolves. Like a dozen other survival movies. Yawn Stupid ending which cheats the audience.

The Woman in Black - Entire film can be condensed into a 15 minute short. Seriously. That's how little action, dialogue - anything of consequence occurs. Yawn

Man on a Ledge - Excellent. I'd say maybe 7/10 but only because the male lead was too generic and kept dropping his accent. It's not like the studios don't have actors under contract who could've done the role. They just wanted to spend less so they should anticipate making less.

I don't like James Bond. Don't see why people like the series.

For me, James Bond was Pierce Brosnan.

I like Pierce Brosnan and I wouldn't say no to him but he's a little too pretty for my tastes. Smilie

I've seen Quantum of Solace and liked it better than the cheesy ones by Brosnan. The excessive cheese just annoys me.

I think some people like the cheesiness of the Bond movies. Look at the earlier ones, pre-Brosnan, they're oozing cheesiness. It's why the Austin Powers movies were such hits.

I like the Daniel Craig installments and sometimes I'm in the right mood for the older ones. If nothing else, you have to appreciate at least some of the villains ("Jaws" and "May Day" coming to mind, for starters).

I grew up with Roger Moore playing Bond. Never like Connery or Dalton.

I wasn't a fan of Connery in that role and Dalton did a terrible job although I'd seen him in movies/tv shows before that where he was really good. Dontknow
