A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Men in Black 3 6.5 I think Will Smith is a freakin Vampire..he looks the same..but he is getting old for the "Cmon Man!!!" role...and Tommy Lee...WTF did they do to his face??? I know he had craggy face...but it almost looked like a melting wax mask at times....

Spoiler kinda...Soo creeeped out by "The Animal's little buddys" I almost couldn't watch!!

Oh and overall I liked Avengers better....
Saw MIB3 last week.

Did I miss the explanation of how TLJ is still an agent? I thought he had been zapped and now back with his wife.

Really liked the movie, but I agree about his face.

Being John Malkovich.

Um... interesting.
One of the most original movies out of Hollywood in the past decades.

Here's a movie:
The Man From Earth
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0756683/
"it left me with a sense of true wonder and joy, long after the credits ended. If the movie had been two hours longer I still would not have been bored, even though most of the film takes place in one small room. It's like watching a ninety minute Twilight Zone, with a perfect surprise ending."

No car chases. No explosions. No gun fights. (well, sorta.) Yep, "90-minute Twilight Zone that leaves you with a sense of wonder long after the credits ended" kinda sums it up.

We Need to Talk About Kevin - compelling, absurd, odd. Not even a particularly new take on The Bad Seed and every other movie about evil children.

Albert Nobbs - slow, boring, depressing, unimpressive.

I haven't seen this yet but I am looking forward to watching this one.
God Bless America - On a mission to rid society of its most repellent citizens, terminally ill Frank makes an unlikely accomplice in 16-year-old Roxy.

The Debt - 0/5 - Way too many subtitles, confusing, and boring plot. LMAO

Scratchchin Might have to watch that. The teaser trailers shown on TV looked terrible. The extended trailer (just watched it) looks much better. Disney is probably still in the red on this one, they finally made their budget $250m a month after it opened but that doesn't cover the advertising costs.

Two Weeks Notice - Standard Hugh Grant fare a few good jokes but if Sandra Bullock weren't in there to brighten things up, I would have ranked it a half point lower. 2.5/5

No Man of Her Own - Mistaken identity, murder, and blackmail. Film noir with Barbara Stanwyck. heart Very good.

Contempt - 1963 artsy film directed by Jean-Luc Godard (whom I often confuse with Jean Paul Gaultier) about the break up of a marriage. Brigitte Bardot is just a mess of blonde hair with a face like a pug. Visually pleasing. Story boring.

Prometheus 4.5/10 Could have been soooo MUCH Better...all the elements were there..Great Presentation as to why to take the journey in the first place,..Great Space ship, Ulterior Motives,Ugly Azz Aliens and a Freakin Android Robot!! But It left me with such an empty.".like I didn't even sit in a theater for 2 hours" feeling....Lots of stuff with no explanation,,or even attempts at explaining...unless it was sooo freakin over my head that I missed everything.....
