A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.)
I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)
So what have you folks watched recently?

I'd give MOS a 6.5/10 and I'm being generous.
Randy Orton (WWE wrestler) "finds himself caught in a deadly 12-round game of cat and mouse with a vigilante."
Better than expected. Actually, I guess that doesn't mean much since I expected one step above terrible. Pretty good. And that's coming from someone who normally can't stand Randy Orton.
Bullet to the Head
Way better than expected. Sylvester Stallone and Han from Fast and Furious. One's a cop, one's a robber. They team up to take down some other bad guy. I don't remember if Han shoots first. ho ho ho...oh, so witty.
While the story overall kind of felt like a rerun, there were enough surprises in the dialogue and action scenes that make this a step above what you'd probably expect.
Saw it a bit ago and was reminded now that it's out soon on DVD. Solid action movie.
Dead Hooker in a Trunk
Low-budget "murder road trip" I guess I'll call it. Has its ups and downs entertainment-wise, the acting is meh, but there's some enthusiasm in the movie and it's a little different. Might be worth watching just for the semi-truck scene.
Same two twin-sister producers did the new American Mary horror-ish movie. Nursing student finds a bit of fame and fortune doing exotic surgeries people can't get elsewhere. Interesting enough to get a mention here.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Couple years old, but if you've never seen this, you probably should. I can pretty much guarantee it's not what you're expecting, after the first 20 minutes. And then you'll probably say, "...what?"
Man of Steel: This was a good movie. I found the acting to be spot-on, especially with General Zod being portrayed by Michael Shannon. Henry Cavill also did a good job playing Superman, however at times it seemed forced. The action and fight scenes in the movies were fun to watch and the use of Lois Lane as more than just a damsel in distress was a great choice. Overall, a great movie to kill some time, however the movie is 2 and a half hours.... I would rate it a 8/10.
This is the End: This was a great movie in the sense that the viewer can just turn off their brain and just laugh at the jokes. However, it is probably the raunchiest movie in theaters right now, definitely not a movie you want to take your girlfriend or mother too... Anytime the characters in a movie are the real life actors, it changes the movie. This is the End is essentially a Hangover-like movie but with bits of The Disaster Movie.... The ending however was rather anti-climatic and only seemed the exist in order to tie up the loose ends of the movie. Overall, a decent movie to laugh out loud with, because the movie is actually funny, but goes a bit overboard with the penis jokes.... I would rate it a 6.5/10.
Now You See Me: Now this was a great movie! The acting was excellent with Jesse Eisenburg, Isli Fisher, Dave Franco, and Woody Harelson. Each play a different character yet they all portray their character perfectly and the roles suit them. Mark Ruffalo as the police officer that is hunting them down was a great casting choice. THe magic in the show is top-notch and you will be puzzled as to how they do all the tricks in the moie. However, there are a lot of plot twists and they seemed rather easy to spot. I immediately knew how they did some of their bigger tricks because I paid attention to the smaller ones. However, there is a plot twist I did not expect at all! However the ending was a bit like This is the End with a completely unrealistic ending at all. It's sole purpose was to just tie up the loose ends and I would have much rather have had a different ending and I could've have written a far better ending! Overall, a superb movie that is a must-watch. I would rate it a 9/10, due to the lack of a solid ending.
Fast and the Furious 6: Now this movie I am slightly biased on. I despised the the F&F franchise and had not see any of them past the 3rd one, except for the 5th movie. To me, it felt as if F&F was being dragged out just to make money. But I was pleasantly surprised with the movie. F&F 6 goes back to its roots as a movie with "family" being the primary motivation and fast cars and high speed chases as an after thought. I enjoyed the movie, and it was funny at times and the casting here was marvelous with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, and so on. Basically the best of all the casts from each movie. There are over the top stunts that in now way are realistic but the F&F series is not meant to be realistic.... The plot line was great, it had a few plot twists, and built up over time very nicely. I would rate this movie a 7/10.
That's it for this post. In my next post I will review The Purge, The Internship, and Star Trek Into the Darkness.
