A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Gravity - Intense. I'm glad it did have slow moments so I could get my bearings. NOT a movie for those that get dizzy easily at visual effects.

Since the last time I checked in I watched The Searchers (1956). Next up, Cool Hand Luke!

Gravity Cool visuals. Facebook goes out laugh out loud. Makes you wonder "Why would?"

The Place Beyond The Pines - A bit long and similar to Drive. Ryan Gosling is getting tiresome. It's not a total waste of your time but it could have been shorter and sharper overall.

The Heat - Pretty funny. Worth a look. Melissa McCarthy really needs to lose 50-100 pounds. Frown

I had low (actually, no) expectations for Identity Thief but it actually was not as dumb as I thought it would be.

I agree she needs to lose some weight but I don't want to see another reincarnate of Starr Jones. Nono1

The Way Way Back - Not a very pleasant, funny, or purposeful film. Akin to Meatballs almost. No one can compete with Bill Murray.

I watched my 115th film of 2013: Cool Hand Luke (1967). I had never seen this movie before, and all this time I thought the line "What we have here, is failure to communicate" was spoken by an old woman. Whoops!

I saw The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on Sunday. I enjoyed it, but it's continuing to take liberties regarding the source material.

The Heat - funny but not one I'll watch again
The Hobbit pt. 2 - very different feeling from the books, but still enjoyable to watch
We're the Millers- not as bad as I thought it would be; lots of "NOOO" moments; very funny at times

Have you seen Absence of Malice or The Verdict? Those are 2 other Paul Newman movies you may like.
