Should mention it's a game key card. The switch 1 version is full game on cart and at the same price.

Should mention although its a game key card. The switch 1 version is only 720p/30fps, while Switch 2 version delivers up to 4K/60fps. People say the switch 2 version is significantly better performance wise and you can still trade a game key card in for money because the game is tied to the card not any individual account

Also note there is no upgrade path from using the Switch 1 cart to the Switch 2 version. If you purchase the Switch 1 version you are stuck at low resolution and performance for good.

Yeah, this is just Square Enix putting people in a bad position on purpose (for greed). I'm still picking up the Switch 1 cartridges for these games because at least then you still own the game even when (and it is when) Nintendo shuts down the servers. Game key cards are a compromise, and I understand for certain games why they exist (mostly when they are larger than 64 GB), but for smaller games like this, there's literally zero reason why there can't be a released physical version on a Switch 1 cartridge that supports both the Switch 1 and the Switch 2. Other publishers have done it, not just Nintendo.

I don't begrudge anyone their choice of cartridge here, but I will say it sucks no matter what you choose, and it's entirely Square Enix's fault. I enjoy their games, but as a publisher, they leave a lot to be desired.

Unless you legally dump your cart to the PC Smilie

+1 Square Enix can suck a big one and screw themselves. Cheap bastards can't afford a full game on a switch 2 game card for a game that can clearly hold it all in

Only exception is final fantasy 7 remake and rebirth, but that's it

The goy cattle still defend the big corporation that wants to step on their neck, interesting observations indeed.

Square SUCKS for not having an upgrade path. They don't really suck for using a game key card which is fine imho. And pointing out that buying the Switch 1 version leaves you with a gimped product is not defending a corporation.
