The r5 5500 is essentially an r5 5600g with the integrated graphics removed, it has 6 cores and 12 threads. While it still utilizes the zen 3 architecture (two generations old) and is on the last generation am4 socket, there are a couple additional downsides compared to standard zen 3 cpus. Most notably, compared to the r5 5600 it has half as much L3 cache (16mb instead of 32mb), and only supports pcie gen3 rather than gen4. This shouldn't make too major of a difference for a budget build, it mainly affects gaming and certain storage intensive productivity application performance, but it's still worth noting. This cpu does not have integrated graphics, you will need a discrete graphics card for display output. Certain gpus, particularly low end modern gpus like the rtx 5060ti and below, use a pcie x8 interface instead of x16, and will perform notably worse with pcie gen3. Specifically avoid the rx 6500xt, which has a pcie x4 interface. The 5500 comes with a wraith stealth cpu cooler included, while it'll do in a pinch I'd recommend using the gamdias 240mm aio liquid cooler that is part of this combo for much better thermal performance.

As far as I can tell, the feature set of this board seems decent for the price, and certainly should be more than sufficient for any standard budget build. I probably wouldn't recommend trying to upgrade to a 16 core cpu on this board, but realistically speaking at this point upgrading on am4 doesn't make much sense. It uses the b550 chipset, which is the midrange option of the most modern chipset generation for the am4 socket. Keep in mind that with the r5 5500 cpu you will not be able to utilize pcie gen4, even though this board supports it. As a last gen am4 socket board there is no upgrade path for future gen cpus. In the past I would've recommended even budget buyers try to get a low end am5 build, since the price premium was generally more than worth it, but with the current ram/ssd apocalypse am5 builds are much less viable at the low end. A single 16gb stick of ddr5 costs more than this entire combo at the moment.
The ram in this combo is ddr4 3200mt/s CL16-20-20 @ 1.35V, which is fairly average for midrange ddr4 (and better than the ddr4 3200 CL18 ram included in the recent more expensive frontpage r5 5500 combos). It certainly won't hold back a budget build like this in any meaningful way. I'm sure some people will be disappointing with the lack of rgb, but imo that's actually a plus (since rgb on ram tends to worsen thermals). Considering the ongoing ram/storage apocalypse, comparable kits of ram tend to be at minimum $100.
As mentioned in my original deal post, the aio liquid cpu cooler is functionally a filler item to allow the normally blocked $70 promo code on the ram to compound with combo savings; you can substitute it for any other item with the green "combo offer" badge in the pc builder.
A 240mm aio is frankly overkill for a low powered cpu like the r5 5500, and most cases should have the clearance for a 240mm aio (though double check your case is compatible before ordering). I personally tend to prefer air coolers for greater longevity and ease of repair, but funnily enough there weren't any cheap air coolers that applied savings with this combo, so this aio it is. Worst comes to worst the aio has a 2yr warranty, and you could always use the wraith stealth cpu cooler included with the cpu if you have to.
If you don't care about the aio and just want this combo as cheap as possible, the cheapest item I found to apply combo savings is the Super Flower, MEGACOOL High Static Pressure 120mm fan, 3pcs pack, which brings the combo price to $189.41. You can also obviously substitute the aio for other primary components (psu, case, storage, etc.), just make sure they have the green "combo offer" badge in the pc builder.
While the ram and storage apocalypse has definitely put a damper on pc building, this combo is actually comparable to some of the deals before the ai bubble started, which makes it a flat out absurdly good value for a budget build in the current market.

In addition to the components in this bundle you'll need:
- A case (I personally recommend getting a decent sized mid-tower, make sure it has clearances to fit all components you purchase / might want to upgrade to in the future)
- A ssd (unfortunately very expensive currently just like ram, avoid drives with qlc nand if possible)
- A video card (also known as "gpu" or "graphics card", best value is highly dependent upon budget, amd is usually a better value than nvidia)
- A power supply (also known as "psu", I'd recommend at minimum 750w Gold rated for efficiency and potential future upgrades, the psu tier list can help provide a general idea of psu quality, but it's best to read full reviews: https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...RB6
- A monitor (lots of decent budget options nowadays, I'd go for 1080p 240hz+ or 1440p 165hz+ at below $120, even cheaper options if you go with chinese brands and/or refurbished)
- An operating system (windows can be used for free with certain features restricted, direct licenses are obscenely expensive, greyware keys are cheap but just as ethically ambiguous as using activation scripts to activate windows for free; linux is free but not as good for gaming, and much harder to use as a newbie)
- A mouse and keyboard
- Headphones or speakers
- Case fans (if the case you purchase doesn't come with enough)
- Thermal paste (if you choose to substitute a different item for the aio cpu cooler in this combo, the aio comes with paste)
