Samsung's 32 inch Odyssey G80SH stands out as a big 4K OLED gaming monitor that also works well for text and split screen work. The larger size feels more comfortable than 27 inch 4K for readability and multitasking, and the panel gets praise for strong color, deep blacks, and high refresh performance. The 98 watt USB C power delivery is a useful bonus for laptop charging. Main drawbacks are the very aggressive matte coating, weak or absent built in speakers and smart features, and some reports of Samsung support and return hassles.

So I bought this and on the second day, monitor won't turn on when I turn PC on. Hard reset PC a few times and nothing. Unplugged monitor and replug it and it works again.

Contact Samsung online to return item and they refused

Gave me phone number to call for technical support and the technical support people would be doing the return. Call the number and waited half an hour.

Samsung customer service is a shitshow if there is a problem.
I just got a DOA Odyssey G7 Oled from them on Tuesday, and the first call to CS was bad just like you mentioned. So the next morning I tried again and got a awesome rep that gave me the return auth (fedex). Plus promised to pricematch after I got my refund. He apologized for what happened and seemed very sincere.

Is this overkill for office work ?
I'm an accountant in my mid 30s with very light gacha gaming here and there on pc. Maybe it's because I'm old, but I don't really notice too big of a difference between OLED and IPS. I just remember wanting OLED monitor in my 20s so when I got it eventually, I expected to be blown away, but no, not really. Unless I'm looking up OLED 4k content, I don't notice a big difference. I guess color is more popping. However,!!!! I do love the 98w power delivery to plug in my laptop!!!!!

I'm inclined to believe you don't do a lot of work involving text. 4k without scaling at 27'' is tiny for even young users. You either have the monitor way too close to your face or you're using scaling at 150% without realizing. 4k @ 27'' is a waste unless you just enjoy small display with high pixel density for gaming. For text, most folks will actually notice less clarity despite higher density due to scaling, and you'll essentially downgrade to a funky looking QHD with a 4k panel.
I'm afraid your inclination is wrong. My entire work flow is purely documentation and development work. I don't think you understand the differences between OLED and standard LCD pixel layouts, nor how scaling works on modern operating systems.

I understand that sub pixel layouts don't mean a thing when you try to use 4k without scaling at 27''. Text size will be too small for the vast majority of users. I also happen to be pretty familiar with how scaling works on modern OS, but feel free to elaborate more. I'd love to learn new stuff since it's been a couple of years from when I last read anything on DIP.

How's the matte coating? It being just a monitor and not a smart monitor is what a wanted so a non issue.
Coating is extremely aggressive. Noticeable especially on brighter colors or if you sit close to the monitor. If it bothers you even if a little, don't buy. Once seen, you will notice it all the time.
