that aliexpress one just says 404 not available in your area. I tried to browse to their site and find the official gl store listing but it's way higher priced than that deal (like $72 plus shipping minus a $6 coupon)

I ended up getting the "404 not available in your area". I searched for MT3000. Found one for 63.80 - 7.00 coupon and got it for cheaper than the posted deal.

Edit: The store I purchased from was GL-iNet Overseas Store and it's $87.32 now.

Ever travel? I use them anytime I stay at a hotel or on a cruise...

1. if you have a limit on how many devices you are allowed to use, this is "one" device, that you can setup a wifi ssid for all your devices
  1. keeps you safer from bad actors on free/public wifi.
  2. VPN for devices that don't work well with VPN... I run an Emby Server at home, but it's not shared publicly. when we travel, i use one of these devices, that connects to my home wireguard server, and connect my FireTV to it - so it can access my internal emby server.
  3. losing LocalSend while traveling with friends - to share photos... etc.

It's mainly good if you travel, or want to set up a separate network where you turn vpn/adblock on and off as you need. Some other things can be done if you poke around more. But it's such a huge help in hotels and stuff.

Yeah I believe that was the one. Looks like people bought fast. Can still watch it, occasionally these can come down again. But 80 is still a fair deal for this router.

I've had this for a few years now. One of the best investment for traveling I have ever made. Combo this with a NordVPN account next time a sub comes on sale here (usually thru Woot!) and you will be set. Its just too good at what it does.

I bought this traveling router back in 2023 for $80. Given the state of inflation and whatnot, I guess this is considered a sale. Works great. Able to get more devices than the limitation of 2 devices at some hotel. The VPN function is great too. Hard for me to justify moving to wifi 7 since I am just using this for non-work related traveling.

FYI The Beryl 7 (with WiFi 7 is out - https://a.co/d/0722vOqB) hence the sale price. I'd expect sales on the Beryl 6 to continue.

Beryl 7 is on sale for 110 right now with a clippable coupon

If you really want to go for privacy, go with Proton VPN.

At home, I utilize this device as a shared drive with an external hard drive connected to it. When I'm traveling, I use it as a VPN client.

This is really convenient, especially when traveling in China where internet access is restricted without a VPN. It's also helpful if you can't install any software on your work laptop, allowing you to appear as though you're working from home while traveling.

I'm confused with this item. So this is mainly for travelers then? I'm confused how exactly do you use this? Is this meant to be used with the hotel's wifi or with your own phone hotspot? So this is only if you have 2 or more devices then? If you are traveling just one person, you can use your cell phone hotspot for your phone. If you want to use your laptop and use your cell phone wifi, you hotspot it. If you are with another person and say you have 2 other devices, say 2 different laptops, you can just use your phone as a hotspot for both laptops or devices right? I'm sort of confused the purpose of this? Is this mainly meant to use with a hotel or something? Does it have to do with multiple people using hotspot from phone but speed too slow?

One thing I did thought about though was when you stay at a hotel or airbnb, you might want to bring a security camera with you to check on things when you are not there. Like say bring a wyzecam with you. In order to use it, you need to connect the wyzecam to an internet connection. Is that where this would come into play? So you connect wyzecam to the hotel wifi? Since doing this, when you leave the hotel or airbnb with your phone, well you don't need the phone's hotspot to make your wyzecam work? That way you can monitor your wyzecam inside your hotel while on your phone while you are outside? Thus similar to like how you use your phone while outside to check on your security camera like wyzecam while you are out?
