Philippine Airlines is drawing attention for unusually strong fares from U.S. gateways, especially Atlanta and Orlando, with business class pricing called competitive and one way bookings available. The appeal is smoother connections through Manila, including through checked bags on partner itineraries, and some trips have included better food, English speaking staff, and even rebooking help after delays. The main cautions are slow Manila check in, extra charges for seat selection or name changes, and reports of old planes, broken infotainment, and uneven customer service. A solid option if the fare and routing fit your trip.

  • Business class pricing can be competitive compared with many airlines.

  • Some routes from Atlanta have produced legitimately great fare prices.

    Robberstea

  • Luggage can be checked through to MNL without transferring bags on connections.

    ducki3

  • Onboard service can feel better than budget carriers, including more seat-lay-flat options.

    Protege

  • Customer service can be poor when cancellations require refunds and fee disputes.

    deliriousbb

  • Check-in in Manila can run slowly, with about 15 minutes per passenger.

    KatherineF5544

  • Seat selection included in some fares may be limited to rear sections.

    star623

  • Some travel experiences include being bumped out of business class.

Still too damn expensive. Seeing 1300 out of Los Angeles. Anyone seeing better prices?
The Business class pricing is competitive compared to many airlines, economy class less so.

Flew them once, would never fly them again. I don't care how cheap they are.
What issues did you encounter..? I've flown Philippine Air approximately 9 times with no issues.

Comparing Economy Supersaver, Economy Saver and Economy Value, looks like the only difference that I see that matter is the percentage of earned miles (10%, 50% and 75% respectively). Now question for the travel savvy, for someone like me to does not travel much on PAL, is it worth the upgrade to Economy saver and Economy value with higher price ? or just avail of the cheapest Economy supersaver?

I believe the only other difference would be refund/change fee. Seating is the same - the seat selection included is for the seats towards the rear of the plane. Closer sections and aisle seats require an additional charge. This is my experience from LAX to MNL.

I flew them on that price error sale back in April. Food was tier above the budget carrier Xiamen I used to return. They gave me 3 seats to lay down on the red eye flight to MNL from SFO on a packed flight. Flight was delayed and I missed my connection but they got me on another flight at MNL. A little disorganized in MNL but they do speak English and aren't rude.

Because everyone is questioning this: my personal experience was that I got bumped out of business class. Never again.
