Flew them once, would never fly them again. I don't care how cheap they are.

Honestly, what's the reason that you don't want to fly with them again?

Very slow check in process in MNL. Plan on at least 15 min per passenger. Also, be prepared to pay extra $25 for adding name info not required upon ticket purchase. Some reps/flight attendant are rude and feel entitled. Half the Food served is substandard. Do better PAL, your Oneworld membership status and business may depend on it...

"$25 for adding name info not required upon ticket purchase." What? Can you clarify. First time I've heard about name info not required upon ticket purchase. I always make sure that all info matches my passport info. In fact you need a passport that is not expiring for at least 6 months. Have a couple of stories to tell about that including crashing 3 of the immigration terminals in Vancouver when it didnt know how to handle expiring passports. Slow checkin in MNL is with any airline, it's just the fact that the airport is over capacity (not enough counters for one) that's why they are building a new airport. Asian airline food is normally better than US carriers. Never had a problem with ground and flight staff but online and phone reps are hit and miss. One thing I hate with PAL is that they have some old planes and been stuck with a broken infotainment system on 2 separate flights.

PAL is also kinda new to Oneworld. They used to have US domestic airline partners decades ago but that went away but recently they have several like Delta, SwA, Alaska, etc... so connecting flights are much smoother and you can check your luggage through to MnL. No need to transfer your bags between terminals! With that said, they still have things to work on and improve

You can book one-way flights (e.g., NYC-MNL, ICN-NYC). The ICN-MNL flight has a layover in MNL (short or long).

Price is good, but be warned, Philippine Airlines has the worst customer service in the airline industry. If everything runs well and scheduled as planned, then you should be fine. But I've had horrendous experiences with them. I paid $9k for first class flight, but had to cancel the flight a week prior. They nickled and dimed me a few hundred here and there for cancellation fees and not showing up for flight, etc. Fine, so i should get $8k back. They said it would take 1-2 months for a refund. I called them every 2 weeks to follow up since April 2026. It is now end of Aug and I still have not received my refund. I asked my credit card to chargeback, which the bank did, but Phillipines Airlines disputed that they will refund my money and got the bank not to refund me the money. They are the worst in the industry, and I would suggest NEVER flying this airline.
