The Google pixel tracker is going to be released in a few months. I wonder if that's a better option

I haven't seen any tech news saying the official Google tracker will be any better (or cheaper) than these Motorola trackers. The Google trackers will be a different size and shape, so they won't work with Apple Air Tag accessories. Also, the Google trackers are not shipping yet and may not ship before the fall travel season if you want to use them in your suitcases or backpacks.

I own 8 of these Moto 2 trackers and used them on my last trip. Here is my experience. They are exactly the same size as an Airtag, so you can use any Airtag accessory which is nice. The battery life has been hit or miss. 2 of the trackers already reported low batteries within 2 weeks of first use and needed to be replaced. I think they were crap batteries from the factory. Pairing was easy. They showed up in the Find Hub right away. I like that these are UWB, but set your expectations appropriately. They are not going to tell you precisely where your bag is at the airport and track it live. There will display a general zone where your tag might be and there is a time lag. Example - when I took off on my flight, the Find Hub said my bag was still on the other side of the airport when in fact it was in the baggage hold of the airplane. When you get super close, there is supposed to be a directional indicator but again, YMMV. Still, it's the best thing out there for the moment for Android so I would buy another set if needed.

I wonder how this link differs from the other one on their store, other than the price https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-A...B0GHPYQJMS
Makes me wonder if these are fake, only review says they weren't able to connect to their Pixel.

Apple's Find My has the broader range by far

They both work with the Google Find Hub, use BT 6.0, and can use UWB precision finding (which is the biggest upgrade for me from the original Moto Tag).

In terms of differences, going by the spec sheets, the MotoTag 2 has better battery life (600 days vs a year), a higher water/dust resistance rating, and is smaller and lighter. From personal experience, the Moto Tag series also has an identical form factor to the Apple AirTag, and so works with all the accessories made for those.

There is no real data available on differences in real-world performance, but I have personally been quite satisfied with my original Moto Tags, and the Moto Tag 2 appears to be an across-the-board upgrade over that.

No.

SmartTag2 is better currently, this is just the best option for people without either Samsung or Apple.

Do these things beep or report their location? I want to use them to track an item if it's stolen, but that would totally defeat the purpose if so.

When you're near it, you can make it beep
