It works great and battery life isn't an issue, it takes 4 AA alkaline, I'm assuming this is similar. I tried with rechargeable batteries at first and those died after a week, you need to use alkaline and preferably something good like Energizer. Lasts about 3-4 months in the winter, but maybe 8 months when it's not freezing, so expect to swap a couple times a year. And you get a notification on your phone when it's low if you setup the app

Just buy 8 eneloops and keep the other set charged. There's a bright red light that comes on when it gets low and you have 2+ weeks to take 17 seconds out of your day to swap them out.
Only negative I have to say about these is that, rarely, the remote connection doesn't work right away. I have to restart the app a couple times to get it to connect remotely.
Otherwise, great lock and highly recommended. Anyone saying the battery life is crap is probably use crap batteries.
