This 3 pack of 32GB PNY Class 10 U1 microSD cards looks like a low cost option for handhelds, general storage, music, videos, and spare cards. The effective price lands around $8 each, and the cards are described as working well for basic use, with some real world tests and long term use in cameras and handhelds. The main caution is reliability, since there are reports of dead on arrival cards, corruption, and failures after a few months or after repeated writes. For dash cams and other constant write uses, endurance rated cards are the safer fit.

Common Questions (5)

  • Some cards have worked for years in cameras and handhelds, including 32GB and 64GB cards used continuously for 6+ years, while other reports mention dead-on-arrival cards, corruption, unreadable cards after a few uses, and failures months later. The practical takeaway is that they can be fine for basic storage, but reliability appears inconsistent.

  • It can work for handhelds and general storage, but dash cams are better served by endurance-rated cards such as Samsung Pro Endurance or SanDisk High Endurance. Continuous overwrite use is the main concern, since losing a critical clip can matter after an accident.

  • Yes, it is a better fit for static storage such as music and videos than for constant-write uses. The card is described as a lower-end option, so it makes more sense for general storage or handheld devices than for heavy recording workloads.

  • Yes. Reported replacements arrived quickly after emailing PNY support with a photo of the card and an order screenshot, and another dead-on-arrival 3-pack was replaced fairly quickly with no further issues.

  • One review mentioned a card testing as fake capacity with H2testw, but the posted test image showed about 29.8GB written and verified, which is normal usable capacity for a 32GB card. That points more to confusion over advertised versus usable storage than clear proof of a counterfeit card.

Also seconding that while PNY will give you generally functioning stuff, I've seen a lot of comments about failure a few months in - more than usual, so also avoiding personally

For use cases like dash cams, it's better to buy a very reputable card geared for endurance like Samsung Pro Endurance or Sandisk High Endurance. Don't want to lose a critical clip when it could save you hundreds or even thousands if an accident happens.

Edit: lol, why the downvotes? You do you, I guess.

Fair point. I was thinking more general storage/handheld use for a dash cam I'd spend the extra on an endurance card too.

I used different brand of MicroSD cards before. Only the PNY's card gets corrupted after using it for a while, cannot even reformat to continue its usage.

The higher grade PNY consumer cards have tested well here:
