The Galaxy S26 Ultra stands out as a premium Android phone with strong storage options, and the comments frame this price as better than Samsung EPP and close to direct Samsung offers. The 512GB and 1TB versions have been bought around this range, and the larger capacity is especially appealing for media, FLAC files, and app-heavy use. The main caveat is that similar or lower pricing can appear through Google Fi, often with trade in or line requirements, so the value depends on how much hassle you want to take on. A solid fit if storage and unlocked flexibility matter most.
Upgraders who want flagship storage without paying full retail, because the same phone has been bought around this price directly from Samsung and through Fi.
No trade-in is required for some of the reported prices under $1,000. The thread includes direct Samsung purchases around $921-$985 and notes that the sub-$1,000 pricing is better than Samsung EPP, while other lower prices are tied to trade-ins or carrier promos.
Yes, Google Fi is mentioned as a lower-cost alternative, with reported pricing around $650-$700 for the S26/S27 Ultra. The catch is that Fi deals can involve line requirements and 120 days of service to keep the upfront discount.
1TB is the minimum suggested if you plan to store FLAC files, downloaded media, reels, and lots of apps. A 512GB model is also mentioned as a recent purchase, but the thread points to 1TB as the safer choice for heavy local storage use.
In your experience how worse or better would be new customers Google Fi deals? Should I better become a customer now or wait until S27 in early 2027 be available through them?
You can see the new user deals on Fi for S26U to get an idea but they all come with much smaller upfront discount and then 24 months credit. Exsisting users discount is all upfront and you have to stay on Fi for 120 days. If you are doing this for the device that's the best one.
It takes 21 days to become an "existing" Fi customer if you open an account with RC so opennong line is mid Jan will be move if samsung stick to its timeline
I have listed the step by step directions in many of my recent Fi posts. Many here are upgrading to latest ultras every year without paying a dime.
Nope upfront discounts and Fi phones are favtory unlocked to be used with any network from day 1. You just have to continue the line for 120 days. See my recent post for a step step direction.
I bought the s25u 1tb for 1049 from woot. Still sitting on it in case something better comes along.
The higher storage variants aren't worth it. What are you keeping on-device to carry around that much? Do you not have an unlimited data plan? Trying to see why 1TB vs saving a couple hundred and going with 256

I plan to store flac files and downloaded media. 1Tb is definitely the minimum I'd consider.
Not a deal, got myself USB c 1tb nvme for 59 bucks for my media, no reason to ever get anything bigger and pay that extra money each year I save by just plugging it in and getting the lower storage option.

Any nvme and enclosure you can recommend? Microsd support would be nice too

I dont have experience with google fi. check out their existing phone offers and plans. when i was playing with plan and phone configs i would pay an up-front for the phone for something like $1-2k but the plan would be $0-12. i would wait for the s27u announcement early next year since lines look to be discounted with phone purchases.
