We have reversed in time and are heading towards the past. In 6 months we'll have 2GB ram and 64Gb hard drive laptops.

You are correct. This is new, I knew Snapdragon models came with Soldered RAM. Intel and AMD was standard DDR5 SODIMM. Maybe it's a different model I am thinking of.

Even web browsing will struggle since windows is terrible with memory use

That's not correct. LPDDR5X means soldered. LPDDR5 just means laptop ram (sodimm)

I wouldn't be surprised if soon, laptop makers start selling barebones systems where you have to supply your own RAM and storage.
