Nothing Phone was created by one of One Plus co-founders Carl Pei a Chinese Origin young entrepreneur who had his education in Sweden and the West.
He and Pete Lau found OP and remember they were the original manufacturer to have unlocked bootloaders and cyanogen Mod as the OS. As OP became more and more a part of OPPO Electronics he developed differences with Executive Leadership and started a separate company called Nothing Phone. Basically it is a European brand of what he founded OP.
I dunno I would say an S24 Ultra is the better $500 buy that you can find. It's a year older, but you're getting true flagship hardware, better cameras and zoom, a better display, stronger performance, and the S Pen if youre into that. At the same price, I'd take the depreciated Ultra over the Nothing Phone 3 .. 9 out of 10 times.
Nothing Phone 3 comes across as a clean, well-specced Android with strong RAM and storage, especially in the 512GB model, and the glyph lights still have a niche appeal. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is repeatedly identified as top tier mid range rather than the Snapdragon 8 Elite, so the performance story is solid but not flagship class. At around $500, the weight and screen quality draw criticism, and Verizon compatibility is a concern because of incomplete band coverage. It looks like a better fit for buyers who want the design and specs without expecting full flagship polish.
Android buyers wanting a clean mid-range phone with lots of storage, because the 512GB model is described as fast and the software is considered clean.
Buyers comparing used-flagship alternatives at the same price, because the phone is positioned as a brand-new option against older refurbished devices.
People expecting true flagship performance and cameras, because the chipset is mid-range and the display and camera are described as weaker than top-tier rivals.
No. The phone is listed as using the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, which is a top-tier mid-range chip rather than Qualcomm's Elite flagship tier. The product description should be corrected if it says otherwise.
At this price, it can be a strong value if you want the brand-new 512GB model and Nothing's clean software plus Glyph features. A few commenters still prefer used flagships like the Galaxy S24 Ultra or S25 Ultra at similar money for better cameras, display, and performance.
It does not have complete CDMA/Verizon band coverage, so it is not a good choice for Verizon use. One comment says it may only be missing Band 5, but another specifically warns against using it on Verizon at all.
It weighs 218g, so it is not especially light, but one owner says that weight is manageable. Another owner describes it as heavy and says the screen is mediocre, which matters if you want a lighter-feeling phone.

is this phone comparable to pixel 9 pro or 10 pro?
This phone has a lot stronger of a processor, more RAM, and more storage(thinking $599 version).
The pixel phones have a little better camera and some of the benefits of being "Google's phone).
I think nothing phones and pixel phones are both some of the"cleanest" running phones. The nothing phones have the "glyphs"... I advise looking it up. The glyphs is exactly what some people need for their phone and for others it's just something to turn off.
Not worth it. Put your money toward a Fairphone that's designed for the US market. Nothing will leave you high and dry, with nothing but broken promises and a poor product. I bought into Carl Pei's hype with Nothing Phone 1. Never will another of my dollars go to anything he's involved with.
This phone will deliver what the name says: NOTHING. Spend your money on something more viable and worthy of your support.
Consider buying only at about $250 or less.

Depends. Are they both brand new for $500? Then Samsung wins. If it's a used refurb then I'd take the brand new nothing 3.

not sure what you can do when the Fariphone company stops making the batteries. same happened with all brands that had user replaceable batteries back in the day. the brands stopped making them and chinese OEM's started selling replacements. but this one looks very proprietary and non-standard.

The aftermarket battery supply seems to be pretty robust. I got the battery on my Nothing Phone 1 replaced for $90 locally. It started to swell and distort the back cover just after the 1 year warranty was up. I've never had a phone battery do that before this.
Even then I regret spending that as the phone just sits as a spare on my shelf. It's heavy and doesn't support all US 5G bands.
Every product I bought from Nothing and their CMF line has been a disappointment. At least I was smart enough to buy the CMF stuff from Amazon for easy returns.
All hype and no substance from this company and its founder.
