I bought one of these junk IMO , the caps do not seal the oil doesnt drain to the center. Not worth 1$ imo.

I avoid this style entirely (where there is a drain plug on the top for the oil to go into). As ToolNut said the oil will splash up and make a mess, and the drain plug on some models can pop back down while hot oil is trying to pool around it, or if you are not quick to catch the drain bolt it can also fall down and plug that hole and then you have 4-8 quarts of hot motor oil that is coming out and nowhere to catch it.

All I use now is the actual bowl/pan type that is DEEP and an open top. Just keep your old oil jugs around and transfer the old stuff into those before you take them for disposal.

I bought a similar one at the auto parts store (probably O'Reilly) and it was this price or less and seals the oil great (no leaks) and the drain has a slope to it so the oil all goes in. I'm thinking you can get a better one than this at about any auto parts store.

There is one just like this at Advanced Auto, but all of the seals have rubber gaskets. It was much more expensive though.

I have used a couple of different versions of the these oil containers and not impressed. Oil splashes because there is no fencing on the sides, the container seal cap usually crack with usage, etc etc. now I am back to a standard rectangle pan that has a place in the rear of the pan with a nipple to place your oil filer on and let it drain. Pan has a good pour spout and rarely makes a mess.

I agree 100%. And I am gonna add a quick note. Any oil pan with a drain on the side is virtually a design flaw. It's especially worse on the hard plastic ones. The thread isn't usually strong and deep enough to secure the cap, which usually doesn't have some sort of a seal.

It's amazing, the industry has had 20+ years to improve these but they only seem to get worse with time. I've never seen a good design, they all just plain suck.

I have this one and the design is just retarded. Nothing beats paying extra for a "specialized" drain pan designed by someone who apparently doesn't know how gravity works.
​You squeeze under your car, pull the plug, and get to watch helplessly as the stupidly shallow top instantly overflows onto your clean driveway because the tiny drain hole can't keep up. Half your time is spent poking at clogged air vents just to get it to swallow.
​Save your money and your sanity—buy a cheap, oversized bucket that actually understands its only job is catching falling oil.

Same here. No issues with it like others have mentioned. Only thing is user error when I forget to unscrew the big red cap before removing the drain bolt from the car lol

I tried those and it drains inside the container too slow , I have one from R&S Strauss of years past and still nothing beats it
