And how much is installation cost? Probably more than this plastic toy.

But good for a rental where tenant destroy appliances.

Free? Because they're incredibly easy to install?

I would never install this piece of crap in any of our rental units.

I am replacing a 18 year old basic GE/Hotpoint DW with mechanical control in a rental. I am looking for recommendations
for a barebones dishwasher for a rental.

stick with the $500-range Whirlpools. no need to go with a metal tub, plastic is fine, but going with mid-range means you get racks which are nylon coated and not vinyl coated. vinyl coated racks will start rusting out after 2 years or so.

open a trade account with your local appliance store and you should be able to get $500-range Whirlpool for around $350-$400. and they also usually give you a discounted rate for install or you can just pick it up yourself and install it. dishwasher boxes can be put sideways in a SUV if you lay it on its back (the sides of the box are labeled which is front/back so you know)

I have the same dishwasher in all black that came with the house I bought 5 years ago, the control panel went out, when I went to find a replacement part, it turns out it was 18 years old! Solid unit, I wish these were on sale back when I bought my replacement dishwasher, would have happily replaced it again with this if it's up to par as the old one

I can assure you that an 18 year old unit is heads and shoulders above the build and operation of this one.
DOE and EPA got a hold of dishwashers in the last decade and basically neutered them. That 18 year old unit isn't even in playing in the same league as newer ones. Apples and turds.
Tons of the negative reviews seem to think it's the dishwasher causing issues. No it's over-regulation.
