A diamond is just a shiny rock. But yeah. It can make a big difference in your prints though. I really like Elegoo's silk PLA. Not much trouble printing and it looks great. I've bought a bunch of their gold silk.

Yeah but it prints differently from "normal" PLA. There was a slight learning curve for me, and not all silk PLA prints the same but it's not too bad at all.

The texture finish is very much different. Making tools out of silk is not recommended, it's better for finishes for display pieces. It's just slippery due to the shiny finish.

Elegoo is one of the few brands that has printed well for me. Good deal.

Elegoo's been solid for me too. Never had a jam with their PLA, and the spools are wound decently.

How does Elegoo's gold look?? I've been using Geetech Gold which I consider the gold standard. (See what I did there? 🤣)

$15 for Chinese-made silk filament is a deal nowadays? What a joke.

Agreed. Don't even care that I can't buy it in less than a 5-pack. Price comes out better than a lot of standard pla deals.

Funny, elegoo was my first tangle and was recent. I've printed many brands and haven't had a tangle, but read about them. Plain black high speed, too, nothing fancy.

Does anyone know if this silk PLA prints well at 200–210°C without losing the glossy finish?

Their gold silk is top notch. I found it early so I never used other brands but I've see Bambu's which is very disappointingly dull. Elegoo's comes out very nice and lustrous. I use them to make coins and they come out looking great. I've bought several rolls of them. The filament I've bought the most of. It's also on sale at $16 but it's normally $20 so decent sale but not spectacular.

I've used Elegoo silks before and you really want to print them hotter than that to get the most shine. ~240C. I also print max speed of 60mm/s^2 because slower printing also increases shininess. You can certainly print faster than that but if you do those two things it comes out almost reflectively shiny.
