This 22 inch Weber kettle is praised as a durable, versatile charcoal grill that delivers even heat and strong flavor for everything from steaks and burgers to brisket and pork butt. The One Touch cleaning system and tool hook handle are useful upgrades, and the green special edition adds some extra style. The main drawback is the ash setup, since this version uses an open tray rather than the enclosed ash bucket found on Premium models, and the built in thermometer is missing. It still looks like a solid kettle if you value Weber longevity and simple charcoal cooking.

  • The One-Touch cleaning system can dump ash into a tray between the legs for quick cleanup after cooling.

  • The kettle design can hold up for many years outdoors with only minor rust at the handle attachment.

  • The heat can stay under about 450°F by design while distributing evenly for consistent cooking results.

  • The grill can reach roughly 550-600°F using coal banking or a slightly cracked lid for high-heat searing.

  • The One-Touch ash tray design can leave hot coals blowing around until the tray is manually removed after cooling.

  • This model can lack an ash bucket and may omit a lid thermometer depending on the exact version.

  • The included grate can be thin steel, which may push buyers toward upgrading to heavier cast-iron grates.

  • The American-flag design can be mostly aesthetic, and built-in temperature indications may be inaccurate enough for some cooks.

Nothing near me, darn it. If I can find one I'll donate it to my local VFW and let them raffle it off.

Just buy a Hibachi For $30.00. These things will rust out after one season & end up behind thr shed or at the curb.

This is in-store only and almost impossible to find, don't waste your time. I have gone twice to two different stores that say "limited stock" and when i get there they check on the computers for me and there is nothing. This is just to get you to the store to buy other things.

I bought two in late summer 2020, one for our vacation house 100 yards away from the ocean one for my parents house, both are still trucking with zero parts replaced and nearly no surface rust.

For those that haven't experienced the magic of a Weber, these are amazing. If you follow the directions, there really is no way to screw up your food. By design these don't get much over 450 degrees and the heat is super even. For ages I though propane was a nice even heat, not even close. And of course you get great flavor. I do agree with others that the way to go is the one with the enclosed ash catcher though. That's my only regret.

450? does that make it a little underpowered for a good steak sear?

Yes, it does, however you can bank the coals up on one side and use that for the cook and then for final searing. The other option is you can load it up with a little more fuel and then leave the lid just a bit cracked, it doesn't take much and it will happily cruise to 550-600. There are other options as well, but unless you are used something high end like a kamado, cooking steaks directly over the coal will be great, they'll get plenty seared for medium. Its only a bit of a concern if you sousvide or like super rare that you will need to bank coals. If you are coming if a regular gas grill, you'll be more than happy.

I really wanted the premium version. Csn you just take this and add the ash bucket? Is it that simple?
You can add the ash collector easily. They just pop into a gap in the leg sockets. But they're like $60 or $70. It might be cheaper to buy a used kettle with an ash catcher, swap them, and then sell off the used kettle with a newly replaced ash pan.

Yes, but it's my mistake. Both grills have the "One-Touch" cleaning system. However, you don't want this one because when you operate the cleaning handle, it just dumps the ash onto the open tray that sits between the legs. There, the hot coals just sit and blow around until you physically remove the tray after it cools down. I believe the newer system is called the "master Touch" or "Premium" model. It has the ash bucket and adjustable air intake. Apparently, the posted model has been discontinued by Weber. Home Depot must have a warehouse full of these that they need to dump. HD needs to stop selling this model.

This is the model that replaced the classic model: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Weber...-n/a-_-n/a
The ash bucket is nice, but the pan is OK. Just empty it often enough that you aren't letting embers fall onto the deck or the ground. I try to do it the next day when I put the grill back.
