I really wanted the premium version. Csn you just take this and add the ash bucket? Is it that simple?
I think the premium also adds the piece that lets you slide open the lid (instead of taking it off and hanging it).
Also, heat protection handles on the damper opening (?)
The lid on the premium also has a thermometer.
I think it is worth the extra and would wait on a deal for that one.
How is Weber's quality these days? I bought this model about 20 years ago, and it's been sitting in my backyard ever since with no cover or special protection. It's survived snow and ice storms, as well as hurricane-force winds that once blew it across the yard, and it's still going strong.
I've never had to modify or replace anything on it. There's a little rust where the handle attaches to the lid, but other than that, I've had no issues. Honestly, the one I bought 20 years ago feels almost indestructible.
At one point, a tornado ripped the roofs off houses just a street over. Fortunately, my street escaped with relatively minor damage, although I lost quite a few shingles. During that storm, this grill either flew or rolled all the way across the yard to the other end. Even after that, it kept working without a problem.
I am thinking of buying this one for gifting to a friend who is about to purchase a new house.

This with the Spider Grills Venom is a nice combo. It will cost you $380 all together but since the this model doesn't have a lid thermometer and ash bucket it might be worth it. It also turns it into a set it and forget it smoker if you like doing overnight cooks.

I bought two in late summer 2020, one for our vacation house 100 yards away from the ocean one for my parents house, both are still trucking with zero parts replaced and nearly no surface rust.
For those that haven't experienced the magic of a Weber, these are amazing. If you follow the directions, there really is no way to screw up your food. By design these don't get much over 450 degrees and the heat is super even. For ages I though propane was a nice even heat, not even close. And of course you get great flavor. I do agree with others that the way to go is the one with the enclosed ash catcher though. That's my only regret.
