Always important to point out that these aren't actually bone conduction headphones. Most of the work is being driven by speakers that sit in front of your ear. Cheaper clip on earbuds actually compete pretty well.
Are you sure about that? Their "OpenFit" version use speakers, but these use bone conduction tech.

I could see that being true. If the volume loud enough you can hear them even if you aren't wearing them.

I have a budget pair of ONN bone conduction headphones --and yes, they're really nothing more than a totally enclosed speaker.
The ugly upfront: they have horrible bass response, with mostly all treble.
But I nabbed them for $15 from an ebay "refurbished reseller", and at THAT price, it was fairly ok. I like them enough that I might buy a pair of these better models from scam's club.
They're great for spoken word, unimportant listening. Like having a radio playing in the background, but only you can hear it.
They work great to keep your ears open -- 100% situational awareness. They work great if you're wearing earplugs. And a nice side effect -- you can eat with them on without hearing yourself chew.
Over-the-ear headphones are bulky and obvious if you're trying to be discrete. My ears, like many, reject most earbuds. Both with earbuds and headphones, you eventually feel fatigued. These feel incredibly comfortable and don't fall off, and I often forget I have them on.
And for those saying "get headphones with audio passthrough", you have to pay pretty decent amounts of money to get good versions of that tech. And it doesn't resolve the "i'm wearing headphones, bugger off!" social implication of having one's ears blocked.

They are on my head now... The pro 1 are bone conduction. They do leak quite a bit so a small bit travels into the ear, but not much. The pro 2 has the back firing bass speaker to make them sound better. But you can fully plug your ear and hear great though the bone conduction on the pro1.
I have a set of the Aftershokz that I use at my PC, the Shokz pro 1 that are my daily wear, my wife has a set of the shokz mini non pro and their latest Opendots... Hope that's enough proof for you... been using bone conduction for years now...
Also with this... all the treble and highs comes from the bone conduction, its the bass that is transmitted though the air for the pro 2, because that is what the bone conduction can't do well unless you wear ear plugs to block the outside air.

You are correct. I've had like 5 versions of their headphones now and only the openrun pro 2's aren't by default the bone conduction mode I believe.
