I have 2.5gb plan internet. I used to get about 1.3gb to 1.5gb for torrents
Right now i get between 150 and 300mbps
6 months ago I was only getting about 10-15mbps for connections. so its better but still not the greatest.
if i switch over to non torrent connections can still get the 1.3 to 1.5gb.
As for proton mail a second email address is required. And yes they will give that up easy. They have also implemented additional verifications on new accounts with either phone number verification or open qr code with phone for verification.
I set up an new protonmail account for a new walmart account and as soon as i opened the walmart account proton required additional verification to keep account. Probably to combat fraud. But its yet another layer that you can be tracked.
That said its still a great service. I have had proton vpn probably 8 years, with only one short outage that I remember.
And August 27th The mail service was down for a couple hours. With no reason given for the outage. I think thats the only time the mail service has been down

Proton VPN Plus stands out for port forwarding and strong torrenting support, with the sale also extending existing subscriptions without losing prepaid time. The student rate and a separate Proton Mail page offer can cut the cost further, and the deal can sometimes be applied to an active plan after logging in. The main knocks are price, since comparable VPN deals can run cheaper, and some reports of slower torrent servers, Linux app rough edges, phone overheating, and occasional service outages. A solid fit if those Proton features matter more than chasing the lowest price.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. Logging in and applying the offer can extend an existing membership while keeping the already-paid time, with renewal dates reportedly pushed out to 2028. The login button may be hidden, but the sale can still apply to current accounts.
Not always. A separate Proton page has reportedly shown 1 year of Unlimited for $6.99 per month, and student pricing can lower 1 year of VPN to $35.88 or Unlimited to $59.88. Some users also found older Proton VPN Plus deals cheaper than this one.
Yes. Proton is one of the few major VPN options that still supports port forwarding, while NordVPN does not offer it. That makes Proton a better fit if you need inbound connections for torrenting or similar use cases.
It can be strong for BitTorrent, but torrent-server speeds have reportedly dropped a lot from earlier levels and Proton says it can throttle torrent connections. Non-torrent connections can still reach much higher speeds, so it is better suited to torrenting than to general browsing for some users.
Proton Mail requires a second email address, and new accounts may trigger extra verification such as a phone number or QR-code check. That adds setup friction, but it is likely meant to reduce fraud.
