This is a nice idea but why not just attach an AirTag to the collar/harness

Does anyone know if the "custom" QR code is truly custom, or if it's just a pre generated url to some random pet finder site?

The QR code on the TechMark QR Code Dog Tag itself only contains a unique link to your pet's profile page. The actual information is stored on the website, not on the tag itself.

A dog collar can be a harsh environment. We used to use a keyring airtag for that and somehow the AirTag would pop out in our backyard

If you're not monitoring the air tag often, you may not be aware the battery is dead and then you can't find your pup. I know from experience. This could be another backup just in case.

I have a Fi collar, Airtag, and Samsung.

Why not have something that they can use to inform you right away that's only $4. Anything that helps get my dog back to me faster, or easier for the person that locates her.

should include a back pocket for an airtag to slide into. the air tag can help locate but in the event it fails the QR code is still there should someone find the poor pet

Just have your phone number engraved? QR code seems unnecessary

An AirTag only works if there's an iPhone within range. If your dog/cat runs off and isn't near an iPhone, it'll only transmit the last location it was near an iPhone. AirTags can only transmit when they're able to connect to a device on the FindMy Network.

If it's just a light mark, you can crank the power some more and it will be an actual engrave and not just a mark.
