Great Deal if you have the room for it.

I have a set of 10-45 hex dumbbells, in 5 pound increments. Takes up lots of room.

Recently got a PowerBlock with stage 2 extension kit, that goes from 5 to 70 pounds, with a very small footprint. Waiting on stage 3 to go on sale to go up to 90 pounds.

I love having individual dumbbells, but if I had to do it all over again, I would just get a nice pair of adjustable dumbbells and call it a day. Also, can go much heavier that way, because individual hex dumbbells over 50 pounds gets expensive and are gigantic.

Complete opposite for me. Used the bowflex 5-52.5lb selectable for years and have spent the last year replacing with dumbbells. It's bulky and not as balanced as individuals.

The Bowflex adjustable dumbbells are not great for that reason. I've used them before and hated it. As mentioned previously, Powerblocks are much better with a smaller footprint. I would also prefer individual dumbbells as you can do more with them, but adjustable dumbbells do have their place. Just need to buy the right one.

I bought the CAP dumbbells and returned them after a month because the rubber smell was too strong. I tried several methods to get rid of the odor, but nothing worked. As a polymer chemist, off-gassing and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are major health concerns for me. After all, the goal of working out is to improve health, not compromise it.

Hex dumbbells suck
Agreed. Not sure why people buy them aside from the fact that they're cheaper than other forms. The shape sucks. The handle shape and knurling sucks. The rubber sucks. The just suck. But I guess if you're on a budget and you need heavy things to pick up and put back down, weight is weight.

What alternative do you recommend? Especially for someone who is not interested in adjustables.

I was thinking the same. Almost worth ordering just to see them walk my 30-degree downward sloping driveway. I think they might just let the cart go and use my vehicle as the delivery destination.

I'm not a fan of the rubber coated style. Just seems like something that will get cut or chipped with use and when putting back on the rack. I guess it is good for those that frequently drop the weight.
