Here's a fairly well reviewed pure sine inverter that runs off the cigarette lighter. It's only 300w, but that's all I would need.

Here's a fairly well reviewed pure sine inverter that runs off the cigarette lighter. It's only 300w, but that's all I would need.

First, I tried to charge a power station that accepts about 120W through its brick. The voltage shown on the little display dipped to about 11V (from 13.2V of the source battery). The source battery can deliver 2000W easily so it did not have any issues. The power brick/charger connected to the inverter made a bad ticking noise.
Then I tried a 300W tool. It started, I could see the voltage go down to 4.2V and shut off. Ran about a second.
Then the inverter was dead.
It's plastic garbage. You get what you pay for...
