I think I need to pull the trigger on this, and gamble that I can activate it in January. I meant to buy it the other day, and then it was dead. Now it's back, and I don't wanna chance missing out again. my 20 gb plan expires jan 2.

Should be ok to wait to redeem it. I got one of these around Black Friday last year I think and just activated it this week, with only a few days left on my previous subscription. I was waiting because there are several versions of the subscription where it looks the same at a high level, but it's very hard to tell if it's actually the same. If it is, it will extend the current sub, if its not, it will apply and run concurrently with any other existing subscriptions, and I didn't want to take the change (good thing I did too, as it was indeed different). Look back through some of the old threads for more details.

This is the safest thing to do, in theory, it should be okay to redeem the same type of code from the SAME vendor, but if you got one from BHphoto and even though newegg is the "same" its coded differently. Adobe support can help, but its a slog and took weeks to get a new code.

I'm still salty at Adobe because it took almost two months to get a new code from them when the my active 1-year Creative Cloud subscription suddenly vanished from my account about a week after activating. I had gotten the code from Newegg on one of their sales I saw here on Slickdeals. This caused me delays in some photoshoot projects I had. I eventually bought codes from other sites because they were taking so long to provide a replacement code. I haven't even been able to see if the replacement code that Adobe gave me even works since my sub I bought from another site expires until October.

I'm thinking of buying this one as a backup, but if there's risk of it not working after a year, then I don't think it's worth it.
